    Default Mandatory Game Survey Reporting

Even though the new website directs you to using the electronic reporting, appears it isn't working yet. Posting both Survey ID and postal code comes up with an error. Guess we will have to wait until after the 26th. I know it says you can't buy a licence, didn't see any reference that your could not complete the surveys.

I'm not in a hurry. There's 5-6 weeks of hunting left!

I got the Moose and Black Bear survey in the mail today. We're still Bear hunting until the end of the month. I won't send these in by snail mail because I want a receipt. With Canada Post ready for a full blown strike,I'll leave nothing to chance a license suspension in case the cards get lost in the mail.

It works. Have to have hyphens in ID number and postal code needs to be in CAPITALS.

Hmm, I just got my deer survey in the mail today, nowhere does it say that it's mandatory. All it says is please complete the questionnaire and personal information is requested.

    Cheers

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 'mandatory' end of it may come in with the new licencing changes in the new year.

deer isn't mandatory this year, bear is.
I did my bear on line last week, will do my deer at the end of the season. Not sure why people don't, give the MNR better harvest info can't be a bad thing.

HUNTER HARVEST REPORTING – what we know so far:
Harvest reporting is a very important piece of the information puzzle when it comes to sustainable fish and wildlife management. The MNRF needs this information to support research, to accompany population modelling and to develop harvest quotas. The idea is to collect the information by electronic device (computer, smartphone, telephone) rather than by mail.
    Details…
Mailed-in postcard surveys will be coming to an end (they will still be mailed out in 2018)
ALL hunters who purchase a licence for moose, elk, white-tailed deer, wolf/coyote, wild turkey and black bear will be required to provide information whether they harvested an animal or not, and even if they didn’t end up hunting
If you do not complete the report, you may not be able to purchase a licence the following year. The new regulations coming into effect on January 1, 2019 allow the government to refuse to issue a licence to a hunter who did not report in the previous year
, but the details related to the consequences of not reporting have not yet been finalized
The MNRF will communicate with hunters (via email) to remind them of deadlines and mandatory reporting
The OFAH has been pushing for a phased-in approach to allow hunters to adapt to the new system (i.e. not have severe consequences immediately), and to share harvest reporting results with hunters as well as how they are using the information in wildlife management
