    Default New system

    It reads like this.
    • Starting in 2019, the tag will only need to be attached to the animal if it is no longer accompanied by the hunter (i.e. if it is being transferred, or if it is unattended). This means you don’t have to put the paper tag on while bringing the animal out of the bush if you are always with it.
    • So you bring the deer out and hang it.
    • Warden comes in to camp.
    • Person that shot the deer is out hunting.
    • Does the tag have to be attached while hanging even do the person who shot it is still present but out hunting ?

My guess is that it needs to be tagged....I don’t know for sure yet, and from my conversation with a CO up north, neither do they.....

My take on it would be YES? Asking a question like that on here is going to give you plenty of different opinions, none of which will be 100% accurate. Entertaining, ya, accurate, no.

yes you would need to tag it if the shooter is also the one using their tag, if someone else is tagging it and they are present at camp then no...
carry the tag at all times, it is required to be securely attached if you are not accompanying the animal or immediately available to produce the tag for inspection

Basically as mention above, not much really changes except you print the tag off yourself.

When you and your deer aren't holding hands, you'll have to tag it ..

I'm failing to see the improvement with this system. Besides them not mailing us the seals or the license issuer printing them.

I said it before and I will say it again this will do nothing but increase poaching. It is too easy to make multiple copies of the initial seal to be used over & over again. We all know it's going to happen. Or we can pretend that everyone will play by the rules & only use it once.

From conversations with a CO, the only difference is that the tag holder no longer needs to affix the tag while bringing the game out of the bush and transporting it to camp or home. The tag holder is still required to notch the tag immediately as before, and in a party hunting scenario, attend the kill site immediately and notch the tag as required. They then have to accompany the game while being transported.
Seems to me the best bet is to keep on tagging game as before to be safe.....

    Exact.
i don’t think this will increase or decrease poaching, you still need to notch a tag when there is a kill. It just saves money on printing stickers and mail and the less money the govt puts into admin crap the better as far as Iam concerned. Maybe the saving will allow them to hire another CO or 2.
