That's a good idea. They are both currently living in Australia but have just returned for 2 weeks over Christmas. Perhaps I can convince them if they can manage it with their schedules - they are both hunters but perhaps not as OCD as i tend be.

Not too worried about them - nothing much more than class 2+. I have done the entire Albany before and am familiar with its challenges and have also done some of the Kenogami but the Kabinakagami will be new. My plan is to do a dry run of the entire route next year and use it as a fishing trip.

The Kabi section between HWY 11 and the boat launch past Calstock can be a good weekend trip. Many years ago we ran it a bit too early and because of huge frozen ice wall on the edge of the river wasn’t able to get to shore to portage. We barely got out in time at the top of the fall. Past the fall the water was so fast, we got in a few kilometre long roller coaster, first thing we knew we were in 3 foot waves in a rock garden. We ended up swamping the canoe and T-boning on a huge rock, we had to jump in the water to try to free up the canoe, we managed but the 17’ Kevlar canoe ended getting cracked pretty badly. We managed to make it to shore and camp for the night. We were lucky it got really hot that night. We had enough Duct tape to patch the canoe. Was quite the interesting trip. Always wanted to go back. Beautiful section of limestone ledges. Good luck

Neither of them have their firearms in Oz and honestly i think they spend all their spare time surfing, diving and sowing their wild oats.
