They may be wrong
These pictures are from the Jan/Feb 2019 issue of Ontario Out of Doors, in article about Dog Training and collars. Though the article itself describes proper usage of the collar, the diagram it directs people to reference, has the correct usage labeled as wrong and the incorrect/wrong usage as being correct. Hopefully this was an oversight by editorial and art staff, and is corrected promptly.

two you tubes showing the correct method amplifies the mistake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7IUaCROT9E and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7IUaCROT9E but the author neglected to mention a prong collar which most dog training professionals use or melbourne which has the same action without prongs for younger dogs. Fact is it is a very poorly written article with little to no research.

even the prong collar isn't needed, if a choker is used properly, or any other similar collar, rick smiths command lead works wonders when used properly, keep the collar high on the head and behind the ears, but yes the info in that article is what you said, poor research and wrong instructions....

They should have hired someone that really knows well about the product and so as dogs. This content will only confuse those that want to know which dog collars to get for their fur buddy.

As I could not find it the webpage ... did they happen to mention that this was a "correction" so that those who read the magazine article and thought it was correct will take a closer look????
