Please explain why you think an AR platform semi-auto rifle is any different than a conventional semi auto rifle.

Reason: extra info
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

That makes no sense. Barrel length is the only consideration on that one.
The only thing that makes it a restricted version is the 16 inch barrel. They were both offered at the same time.
I’ve fired one of those and created accurate loads for my brothers non restricted CX4. Now by accurate I mean 1.5 inches at 100 yards with 90 grain projectiles.
Nothing sinister about that rifle other than it is black.
A semi is a semi. Doesn’t matter what clothes it wears.
I enjoy shooting. I can shoot pistol ok and rifle ok and shotgun ok.
Every time I spend time at a range with a gun of any kind I improve my poor by nature shooting abilities.
That makes me a better hunter.

Yes I was shot before too with a pellet gun clean through the hand. Few bandaids and was good to go,in the palm out the back between the thumb and pointer. Never reported [emoji2958][emoji106][emoji1787]
One of my buddies got shot point blank in the face with a paint ball gun. He got into it with another fellow after a game. Again never reported but it was pretty bad took awhile to heal up lol.

Funny thing is - one REAL assault rifle(if there is a category as such)is the Dime a Dozen SKS rifle.
It was MADE for army,it was used widely in combat, and it is widely available Canada wide, for cheaper then dirt.
Now-most of them have bayonets too-YET no one screams about them!!!!
Because they do not have black plastic stock ,pistol grip and rails all around the fore end....huh?

But if you are a LEO, and you are confronting someone who has a black semi in hand. It creates a level of doubt, i.e. by its appearance that guy could have a fully automatic assault weapon. A sport model semi, by contrast has an appearance that seems to rule out the likelihood that it could be a fully automatic weapon. So how it is clothed, does matter. It’s going to determine how the LEO is going to react in the situation.

I don’t buy that.
That could go for any Modern sporting rifle.
Not going to change what goes through their mind - a gun is a gun.

Perhaps if there are some current or retired LEO's in the forum they might weigh in on how they are instructed to deal with situation where a firearm is in doubt. I have a feeling if there is a fully automatic rifle in the mix, It's a situation which requires them to put in a call to SWAT. The Montreal massacre is a case in point, I've been given to understand, that uncertain of what they were facing, law enforcer apparently delay intervening, until late in the afternoon, the last shot having been fired around 10 a.m.. However, what it seems to have fostered was the development of SWAT idea here in Canada.

Wasn’t the Montreal massacre done with a mini 14? That’s a semi not an automatic rifle.

You don't have to have a gun for a swat team to come around lol. My father in law had them show when he barricaded himself in the house after the police showed up. That was well before I was around but they though he keeping the mother in law hostage. That wasn't the case they just never came out when the police showed.
My other buddy tho he got 6 years when the swat showed up. 9 hour stand off when a deal went bad . He stole a few guns just 2 days after a 7 year sentence he was definitely debating what to do lol. His freedom was short lived he spent his young teens to mid 20s locked up. He is good now and left the past life behind him.
He only started off with a 60 day young offender and that turned into the first 7 years.
