Wow, some really nice birds guys. I was lucky enough to get out last Saturday with Lenny. Second set up of the morning and things happened fast. Lenny’s great calling had the birds coming in on a string. Dropped him at about 15 yards with the Benelli. Unfortunately in my haste to breast him out I forgot to take photos with the beard still on. So took a couple after the autopsy. Having trouble posting them so Lenny will post them later. Not a winner but decent enough.
10” beard
1/14 spurs
Thanks again to Lenny for the setup and calling. One more to go!

Glad you re-measured oddmott - you are now in 2nd place!
Congrats to Dilly on tagging out with that great second tom.
Here are pics of tegeet's tom from last weekend:

We sat in gobble free silence at our first place last Saturday, and I mean silence. So we pulled out and relocated to a second farm, snuck in, got the decoys set up, made some tentative hen calls, and got an immediate response - from a coyote. This thing was within 100 yards, and kept howling, over and over, like it was stuck in a trap. Then the toms started up, between us and the yote. I'd never heard anything like it, I was calling, and the yote and toms seemed to be answering. This went on for at least 15 minutes, but the tom came in, had a bigger silent tom and several jakes with him. Never did see the yote, or hear him again after the shot. I thought for sure the hunt was a bust with a yote calling that close, but it didn't seem to worry those toms in the least. Nice bird for thegeet!

With "some" nice looking weather this long weekend, we will hopefully see some more birds entered. Will anyone be able to challenge parkcity???? I've seen a bird behind my place with hooks that belong in a bag of Bugles, but he's gonna have to wait until next year........

I've got my eyes on a bigger bird, but work is nuts and time is short. Doubt I'll be able to bag him this year.

I was able to connect on my second tom of the season yesterday on the holiday Monday. 5:30 PM bird spot and stalk style. 21 lbs, 10.75" beard and 7/8" spurs with the shotgun (Total Score = 88.75). Very similar size to my first bird of the year. He was part of a group of 3 toms that have been together all season. I have seen them together on numerous hunts so it was nice to finally catch up to one of them. The bugs were getting real bad by my place this weekend so it is nice to be tagged out. Good luck to everyone still after them.

Well done. The bugs are getting horrible, don't envy anyone still out there.

This weeks cool weather sure has kept the bugs down, and we are now in the final week. Had a great day yesterday with 3 strutters and 5 hens hanging out in the back field. Here's a member of our hunt camp who came down to my place and got his second tom ever.

Today's rain put a damper on this mornings hunt with thegeet. Had a few gobblers vocal off the roost, but still competing with lots of live hens going to the gobblers, who were rooted in place in the woods. Must be the cool spring, and maybe a bit of delay in the season, or could it be a second clutch for many hens? Normally the toms are on the prowl this late in the season, and the hens want nothing to do with them! Just before it started to rain this morning, everything shutdown. 6 days to go this season.........
CD94, nice job with the second bird, puts you in second place for the two-bird total!
Good luck to everyone between now and next Friday.

Good luck to all on the last day today! I’ve got 2 hunters this morning hoping to fill their tags with a last chance bird.
