Default Wild Turkey Hen with chicks!

Went around Dundalk today with my father still on the land hunt.

Look who we ran into on the way back home.

ive never seen a Turkey hen with chicks before so this was a treat.

counted around 9 chicks you cant see some in the pics as the grass had some high patches in there.

didn't want to get to close as she was already kinda nervous as she was trying to get onto the other side of the closed off gate.

    enjoy!

fist time posting pictures on this forum so sorry if i screw it up ahhaha

Nice to see but those look like late hatch chicks for sure

    Very cool!!

Definitely a second hatch or at least a very late one, I seen poults twice that size a month ago! Did see two different groups of toms strutting coming home from fishing last weekend. I guess if you only get it one season of the year I’d be trying to stretch that season out too......lol.

With the long wet, cold spring I’m sure it was detrimental to more than a few nests but with the first cut of hay being delayed by a month or more definitely helped those second and late attempts.
I love fishing but REALLY it is just a way to pass time until hunting season!!!!

Saw 3 poults with mom crossing a road this weekend, they were the 1st I've seen this year and they were about the same size, kinda small I thought for this late in the summer.

Seeing a few hens with young poults like this at work. Seems the hatch here was a little late, but successful!
