Just watched david dewolfe's utube video of his account and it was his brother who was with the kids during the bath. It's worth the watch. The title of this thread is totally appropriate.

...and some blindly defend anyone in law enforcement because "they're just doing their job". Don't forget that it's just that... a job. Some people are terrible at their jobs. LEO's and CO's are no different.

I really have no idea why your joking about this. Real classy. Imagine this happened to you! I've had multiple problems with clueless cops and cos when hunting. Definitely not everytime I've been checked but it does happen. From cops driving thru a farmers winter wheat field leaving ruts. A co accusing me of baiting migratory birds because there was a visible bag of sealed deer feed in the back of my truck. Spent 1.5 hrs harassing us. Friends having guns drawn on them at a ride program while coyote hunting. I can ho on and on. It does happen. They really need to learn to tell the difference between a criminal and a hunter sometimes.

Court of Law is where you are innocent till proven guilty. In an uncontrolled situation in the field I respect the need for a guilty till proven innocent attitude a LEO may have for their own safety. Have had my share of encounters. Most recent a number of years back was hunting an early goose field had a golf course to the north a monster home to the south and the street lights of Barrie behind me. Sunrise and the geese poured into the field and didn't take long to get my 10. Packed up and drove down the 2 track to the street gate. There on either side of the gate 2 cop cars. I stopped at the gate rolled down the window. Waved to the cops they waved back waited a bit than waved me through. When dealing with LEO's my reaction has always been Yes Sir, No sir, what ever you say Sir. Never had guns drawn on me.
Might want to reflex on your actions as to why it might prompt the LEO to react.

My actions? Really? Wow! Guilty until proven innocent? Which country are we in again??? I have no problem with a routine check. A co should know better than to come out into your decoy spread while your hunting in a field though. Unless of course your doing something wrong. But should not interrupt your hunt.

You only get so many days to hunt when you work. Like I said before cops driving on wet winter wheat spinning his tires leaving ruts. Ask my kid about the cop field. Cop runs down the fence row with his gun out of the holster within 15ft of us. Runs by us until we yell. Why have your gun out?? There was close to 100 dekes set. Common sense would tell you when a decoy spread is out they are hunters not criminals. Why even have your gun out. I've got a bunch of stories like this. And never have I been charged with anything.

I really cannot believe you dont take this seriously. I totally feel for this guy. You joke about it! Common sense goes along way. Our cos and cops definitely need to use it more.

Thing is I never had experienced any such actions even when I was given a citation for an incident I felt was bogus.
Now if you've had numerous adverse encounters than I my opinion it might not be them but you.

I still stand by what I originally said. One sided story with a collection of embellishments and very selective commentary.
If most people don't have the sense to hear or consider the other side of that coin before they pass judgement, I can't change that.

What this site really needs is additional Topic that is related to LEO/CO Complaints. That minority opinionated group could spend their time on that thread and try to out do each other with their stories of negative contacts with LEO/CO's , whether they are reality, embellished or that they know a guy who has a cousin who has a neighbour who's uncle had it happen to him. They could feed off each other. People that choose to avoid it can.
That way we could all be happy.

Wow! Obviously your not reading or not understanding what I am saying. Your here standing up for cops that completely harassed a person and mishandled a relatively simple situation. You probably don't hunt alot. I can assure I dont go looking to be bothered when hunting. When 5 min routine check takes 1.5hrs out of my hunt I have a huge problem and will say something. When 2 cop cars come speeding into a decoy spread is that necessary? Common sense needs to used more in these situations. You can stand up for cops and cos all you want. I realize they are people and make mistakes. I guarantee you if more of them came into these situations with just a bit of common sense things will go smoother. Will it take someone getting shot for you to understand what I am saying??? Jmho
