I've thought of joining now for quite a while but to be honest, I've never heard of any projects they do. I know in the areas I am they don't operate. I have looked into their website, and maybe I'm just not looking correctly, but does anyone know what they do here in Ontario? I know in Michigan they are very active which is great.
It would be amazing if an organization like this could work through the MNR.

I’m sure they do excellent work but my guess is it is mostly on privately owned land. I can’t see many people wanting to contribute financially or with time to improve habitat they likely can’t hunt? Sending membership $$ dues down to the mother ship in the States seems like a major bump in the road.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Yes, to be honest that's what has prevented me.

The North Shore chapter, Tillsonburg & thereabouts, is very active and well established. Much of their work is on public land.

PM me if you want contact info.

I'm with the Tilsonburg chapter--great group of guys-much of the work they do is around that area some private land and some MNR land if I remember--Every spring there is a dinner -great food-silent auctions- a number of guns for raffle as well as some crossbows.--From what I have been lead to believe over the next few years the MNR might be more open to more woodlot enhancement projects in order to create better habit for Grouse, as they realize that their numbers have been declining in this part of the province. the group can be contacted through facebook.

Nothing will ever be done " thru the MNR"
Read the hunting forecast in the Sept issue
On the 1/4 page set aside for small game It says in bold
Small game populations are not monitored
How then did the recent changes to the hunting regs involving small game come about if there is no data?

There used to be a crown area near Winchester, south of Ottawa with some RGS signs posted. I never saw any grouse in the area and ended up moving on due to hearing some ruckus over land ownership.
