Last hoorah before the deer season
Flipped a coin and decided to run south west today. Left Nova home today a little because Stella been running second fiddle up to now but mostly because I know I'd need all her experience on some cagey migrants. Sure enough found a bunch of running, short hopping, buried in the nastiest stuff birds. Although the first 7 came well enough tried as hard as I could but couldn't connect with number 8

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

Good job FFF! I'd have to say its been a decent year for woodcock. I have noticed a nice and steady migration of birds since around October 16th or so. I didn't hit any massive flights, but good numbers of birds each time out - would have liked to get out more often, but was busy with work and family. Maybe I'll come across a few on Pelee this week, who knows!!

Did pretty good on Tuesday north of Barrie.
Put up around 15-16 birds and dropped 8 ... had a second gunner with me.
