Week after shotgun hunt

Our area got hit pretty hard but I've seen a few tracks. proof some of the deer survived.
I never really hunted deer religiously after the gun hunt. Wondering what you guys usually do-- do you change up your routine?
I'm told the rut in our area really heats things up mid november. I have a few days off work so hope to sit out there, but wary about rattling and calling since most of the deer now have had a school of hard knocks education from the neighbouring groups :P

Well i give it a day or two before going back in just to let the woods settle i know they loose there minds in the rut but i feel it best to let them relax again just my 2 cents

The weekend after gun season I religiously hunt and with much success. That’s usually the mid to late peak rut and they are pretty active after being locked down by the orange army this week passed.

Yes good point. My experience though is strictly nocturnal deer remain after a gun hunt. I'm sure they'll expand the activity times as the weeks go bye.

Some ya of course. I have those Spypoint link micro cameras. I kinda just let them tell me what’s going on. When I c activity start ramping up again I’ll get back out. If not it’s on to muzzleloader.

I have Remembrance Day off so off i go. Day after the gun hunt but my doesn't get hunted the November hunt, so not much difference for me. It was pretty messy out there today with all the wet snow falling, but still better than sitting on the couch like i am. All I saw was a yote and a jack rabbit and not in range

I love the week after the rifle season. For one thing, there is no shortage of deer and the rifle season doesn't make it harder to find them. The rut is generally still on and calling them in will still work. In many cases, the deer have been pressured into tighter, thicker pockets and if one is willing to venture in, their chances are good. It's quiet because everyone else is all hunted out so you have the woods to yourself. Win, win, win, in my humble opinion. Unfortunately I am working until next Sunday.

went out this afternoon to throw some bait down. didn't see much and the blind broke a few poles. dragged through the snow and just a few birds on the trail cam.
i have wednesday off so i might go duck hunting instead on wednesday.

The week after shotgun is when the shotguns get put away and the coyote rifles come out.
