I am wondering if it would be worth getting a jug or two of pig oil( a bait ) and setting out a few trail cams. One cam per oiled tree.

If you have any reported sightings near you, it I would never hurt to try.
As long as the products or use are safe and Canadian approved [emoji39]

I may get this. It's cheaper and it's good for hogs, deer, and bear.

Given the choice, most of the hunters talking about hog hunting in Ontario would not really want them here.
Now the tree huggers are more likely to push for laws to protect and demand the reintroduction of the "Native" hog population. You..like. ..because if there is no hogs...it's like..you know..the hunters killed them all. Just like they did to the mammoths, and the Dinosaurs.
P.S. yes I would love to hunt Raptors in Ontario. Do I now have to fight with you over how bad they would be for the farmers?

There were never native pigs in Ontario, all of the wild pigs that are in the US are from intentional release or escapes, look at how the population has flourished for them down there.

No wild pigs here. The cougars eat them all......
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Pigs have been escaping farms here for decades. So if they breed and multiply like rabbits, where are all of them causing havoc in Ontario?

Do you think that fact would stop the Idiots from lobbying for them to be repopulated here.
The closest thing Ontario had to Native pigs would have been the Entelodonts. Not the same family, but related to pigs.

Likely because farmers keep the sows and boars in separated pens, so when there are escapes only one sex gets out.
Most male Piglets are Castrated at a young age, so even if a sow with young escaped there would not likely be breeding males in the sounder.
Want to test your theory? Release 10 females and three non-castrated males. Then wait.

Your only speculating, pigs have been escaping capture for decades in this province and have never been able to establish themselves. All the fear mongering about a pig apocalypse happening here is just a bunch of hogwash imo.

One thing is different from a decade ago..
Wild boars are moving north those are facts. As the population continues to head north it's only a matter of time before our escaped pigs run in with the wild pigs.
More escaped pigs plus the wild pigs crossing our borders will only result in a disaster. Even without the escaped pigs more and more wild boars will cross over into Ontario.
Every freeze up the chances of them crossing over increases every year.

They are establishing themselves, it is happening right now.
It has happened in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, it is not hogwash, you are being naive .
