It amazes me that charges are even laid when the firearm owner is in 100% compliance with existing storage laws. In every instance, prevention of theft from B&E was never the reason nor the intention of safe storage regs since their inception. Nothing has changed.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Thieves will get into anything and steal whatever and however they want.
They crash through buildings and steal ATM'S , so a vault , big and heavy just takes a little longer
There is a little more to the story than that and I know the victim of the theft. The break and enter took place in an apartment in a public housing complex rife with gang bangers and crime. The owner of the guns used the apartment as a storage place for numerous firearms in this high crime area. He had run a foul of the Chief Provincial Firearms Officer a number of times for alleged discrepancies while teaching firearms courses to potential armed security guards and to add fire to the flames had been an "expert firearms witness" for the DEFENCE in a number of high profile cases involving firearms, where the crown lost. I think you get the picture.....
