You guys have given me some hope on this bear idea. I’m thinking of a place where perhaps I will could be only a couple hundred yards from the road.
Now for deer I’ve had them come within range while I could see the car from the stand but I’ve always read that bear are extremely timid so I imagine having to be pretty far from the road and people.
Then there is the issue of setting up bait and so on ahead of time etc. I’ve got a lot of studying to do.

Also, I’d like to bear hunt this spring but my biggest concern is getting the bear out of the woods without an ATV. Thoughts?

A plastic molded toboggan with sides. Many use them for hauling gear out to ice fish.

I have one of those. I also was thinking worst case I bring a bunch of rope and a block and tackle and use trees to haul the bear's out of the woods!

I believe that's called "The Alaskan Method" and can be found on YouTube. I've seen it used very effectively.
P.S.: I've deleted the posts that triggered the original subject to go off the rails. I should have known. My apologies. New Years resolution....no more political comments by me on these threads. It's too divisive and serves no useful purpose.

If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

I was in TSC store on the weekend and they have large plastic heavy duty toboggans there, two sizes, large and larger , they would hold a bear easily.
I cannot remember the price .

I've used them for deer before. They work great when there's snow down but when you get more weight in them and it's dry rough ground the bottom will wear out fast, specially when it's rocky.
Cheers

We have one at the camp which we have used for many years to haul out our moose behind a 4x4 atv, rocky ground has not yet worn it out, but it does have a few gouges on the bottom, after many moose being hauled out in our area # 54.
The one we have is called a "snow tote ", It's at least 1/2 inch thick, high density polyethylene plastic.

Or you could just drag a 250+pd animal yourself for a km or 2 no problem as some here have suggested not long ago...lol
