    Found this on another site;

    "At approximately 11:15 a.m., RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson encountered Wortman oncoming on Route 2 in the community of Shubenacadie, and rammed her cruiser into his replica to stop it.[15][26][27] Witnesses reported that Wortman exited his vehicle and shot into Stevenson's, killing her and injuring another officer.[15][18][23] Both cars also caught fire, though accounts differ as to when and how.[15][23] Wortman then stole a silver Chevrolet Tracker SUV from a nearby motorist, and was next seen continuing south along Highway 102 through Milford at 11:24 a.m.[10][1"

    [On the afternoon of April 20, Chief Superintendent Leather said there were 16 crime scenes, including five structure fires, over a distance of at least 50 kilometres (31 mi). He said he expected the death toll to rise as these crime scenes are investigated.Leather noted that Wortman's use of a police cruiser and wearing a police uniform allowed him to help evade detection for a long time. Owning police vehicles or uniforms is not a crime, but impersonating a police officer is. Leather also said that Wortman had no licence to own guns and that his weapons were illegally purchased, which will be investigated further."

    There were 266 firearm homicides in 2017, an increase of 43 from the prior year, Statistics Canada said Wednesday from Ottawa. The ratio of 0.72 events per 100,000 people climbed 18 percent last year. https://time.com/5461950/canada-homi...e-2017-climbs/
    Again, of those 266 how many were suicides, how many were committed by licensed gun owners and legally owned guns?

    I've attached the link to the actual stats. Not some editorial piece authored by someone trying to sell magazines.

    Oh, and in 2018, it was 249 a drop of 7%.

    Sure let's play the stats game shall we? Bring yours, with credible data.

    OK

    Overall, there were 266 victims killed by a firearm in 2017, 43 more than in 2016. This was the fourth consecutive annual increase in the number of firearm homicides. Handguns accounted for about six in ten firearm homicides.
    The firearm-related homicide rate increased for the fourth consecutive year, rising 18% in 2017. At 0.72 per 100,000 population, this marked the highest rate of firearm-related homicides seen in Canada since 1992.

    My point is, and has remained, that the issue is not our current gun control legislation, which is working.

    It is the supply of illegal guns and the lack of concern criminals exhibit for any penalties associated with same.

    Again. 3% of homicides are committed with firearms.

    At 249 for a population of 31 million in 2018, you genuinely have a greater chance of being struck by lightning ( 1 in 3000), or dying of the flu ( 1 in 50,000), than dying by firearm related homicide in this country.

    Not that I expect an answer but, how many of those homicides were from licensed gun owners with legally owned guns?

    None as far as I know a suicide is when you kill yourself and homicide is the deliberate and unlawful killing of one person by another.So with that said I believe there will be a separate category.

    I wasn't speaking for myself, none of us can really say what we would do unless we were in such a situation, but you're right about that. Sadly it's probably one of the main reasons this one was so bad.
