That's correct Gilroy, those people left dictatorships to come here to a free country. They came here because they feel it's far safer and yes only the bad people had guns where they lived, I'm fully aware, those types are my neighbors. One things for sure in a dictatorship they take away your guns that's why all those people came here to live in a free country,and it's safe because we have guns. Well I am of the opposite view you don't flee from a country torn apart to go to another country where you again see gun violence on a daily basis.You actually want something better,so they vote for a government that is not keen on the proliferation of arms.
Where the police for instance in the USA are armed to the teeth,have to drive around in ex military armored vehicles to perform drug raids and everybody and their uncle looks like a swat team member.No thanks they say and of course vote liberal.Pretty much common sense.

You also wont see people owning guns in a country run by dictatorship. It's really simple to see the truth, take away guns from the good people, who is left with the guns and the rules. Certainly not good people.
It's also not the good people in free countries that use guns for crime, it's bad people. TRUTH

CCFR is definitely the organization to join if that's your intention. CSSA is good,too. They're the only ones with a common sense approach. The rest are more "regional" than national.

The half dozen of you that are on here daily pushing for gun right's can form your own wee group and bash on for the rights of the weekend warriors and their Ar 15,s. In the meantime I will just continue hunting with the same guns I have used for the past 40 years undeterred by the government.

GW your a Canadian born man and you perceive the world through that lens, but what about the others voters in Canada, how many came here seeking refuge from War torn countries all over the World. I don't need to mention them and we don't but could go back to the end of the second world war.Vietnam,Iran,Syria,Afghanistan,Iraq, Egypt,Somalia,Lebanon, then add to that countries under the gun of dictators all
over Africa.
These voters memories are of gang's armed with military style weapon's now add to that the victim's families of shootings,domestic violence
the female victim,s of which don't care what type of gun was used it was a gun and women consist of 52% of the vote.

Now the rest of the general public see almost weekly reports of mass shootings right next door in the USA, where assault type weapon's are used,how do you think they are voting,well probably to protect their kids come hell or high water.So basically its a political football.

If I am asked tomorrow to give up my semi auto hunting rifle in order to protect my fellow Canadians I have no problem.

We push for more gun bans ?? Firearms kill and there is blood on the streets. One at a time till they are all gone .

It's not like we are living in Mexico where machine gun armed cartel are give out thousands of aid packages to the people of Mexico.

We are pretty safe the way they are in Canada, safe enough we we dont need the bubble wrapp any tighter than it already is.

Same old echo chamber guys. We are mostly preaching to each other and the only debates are with other members who are mostly participating for their own entertainment.

If every gun owner cared enough to keep their firearms, we’d have a well-funded advocacy group to represent our interests.

Before I get jumped on, this does not mean I am pushing for an NRA style of politics here. They’ve gone too far. But I am suggesting that a well-funded group with wide ranging membership across Canada would do wonders for us.

Rest assured.

Right now isn't the time to leverage any of this to support pro-gun advocacy.

It will be however be summarized, and analysis done. It will be a cornerstone of any pro-firearms argument taking place in the HOC or other debate going forward, by all groups, including the NFA, CSSA, CCFR, OFAH etc.

Timing is everything. Now is not it.

....the areas in any city with the highest violent crime rates are ones that are inundated with immigrants "looking for a better life". Just take a look at the EU countries..whole sections of major cities with areas cops won't even go into due to the violence perpetrated by immigrants gangs.

Even here in Ottawa....the area around South Keys is racked with violence and it's gang warfare....almost exclusively made up of immigrants.
