I personally think that as long Trump is in power it will definitely hurt any chance of us getting a Conservative majority in Canada. The way I see it we as Canadians get more than our share of US news:

    - home invasions
    - gangs & drugs
    - mass shootings
    - Trump.......well he is just being himself
    - Republicans protesting to open things up (carrying side arms, AR's, and deactivated rocket launchers)

The middle undecided spectrum in Canada see this in the news and automatically start leaning left. After showing the Ohio, PA & Michigan protests to open the economy I am sure 75% of the people that watched that clip would say we definitely need to get those guns off the street and would support a gun ban.

When Trump starts talking about a wall and shutting down immigration the middle start to go the other way.......then Justin went all out and just invited them over via Twitter.

    “Yep”.

A lot of my female friends did not vote for Scheer, because of Trump. He is the leader of “the US”, the free world. And, with racist coming out of the woodwork, anti abortion coming back under him. They think the same can/will happen here, so long as Trump is in power.

With respect to gun issues, for us. Even more reason we should hope Leslyn Lewis wins. Or vote for her.

One is my fiancé. She wanted Trudeau out. Wanted to vote con, but the combination of Trump. Scheer.

    she voted NDP.
she is far from alone. I know a handful of women that went that way.

    Good info...the other side of the story , so to speak;

But for the most part, hunters in Nunavut say bolt action rifles are their preferred gun anyway.

"There's no need to be rapid in a lot of our hunting on a regular basis. Hunters want to be clean on their shots," said Marty Kuluguktuk, the chair of the hunters and trappers organization in Grise Fiord.
There are some hunters whose guns made the ban list. Those now-prohibited firearms will need to either be returned to the manufacturer, or exported as part of a sale before April 2022.

"The one good example is the Ruger Mini-14. That rifle has been around for a long time. It's ... very good for hunting," said Iqaluit hunter and outfitter Alex Flaherty.

"It's also a semi-automatic rifle which is good for when caribou are running, so you could take a couple of shots without reloading. So people that own that type of rifle are going to be impacted."
"We use firearms for hunting, and especially during a pandemic, it's important that people that are legitimately using these firearms to hunt and provide food for their family … [and] can continue to do that," she said.

"It's safe to say that this was going to be a huge topic of discussion and impact people in different ways. And we need to ensure we have key people that are able to be a part of these discussions and I don't think it's a good time to be making these decisions that heavily impact people."

and I am reading now on the CBC that Wortman had a long long long history of domestic violence which was reported to the RCMP multiple times by a Canadian Forces veteran (including his cache of illegal weapons) and yet the soft Canadian "hug-a-thug" system kept him out of prison.

so much easier to give the law-abiding folks a rough time

apologies if this was covered earlier, I stopped following this thread a while back

It also turns out he was reported to Police (RCMP) several times that he had illegal weapons, yet they did nothing. I am sure our to Liberal friends on here think this was good.

Be nice if we ever get to know the truth. The investigation into the RCMP involvement and response to the incident will definitely leave them a Black Eye. Should result in some strategic career ending shuffling of the decision makers.

So much for being a 2nd rate Canadian we are bumped down to a 3rd rate Canadian. Natives get to keep their firearms, as do criminals but as legal gun owners we get the pinch.

    It should, but it won’t.
