I wear a mask . I'm old. Right now there is a 1 in 200 chance of dying with Covid 19 . I'll wear the mask.

For Toronto and most places masks will be mandatory until the the fall council meeting in September or October. Then they will make another decision. I think most municipalities will be doing the same and reviewing them in the first fall meetings.
But it wouldn't surprise me if they keep it in forced until a vaccine.

Always felt politicians should act in publics best interest even if it went against their own self interest.
The evolving medical science concludes that wearing a mask is more than a placebo but actually contributes to containing the spread of the virus. Nevertheless, a small handful of anti-social misfits will claim a non-existent medical condition to justify not wearing a mask where it is required due to their perverse interpretation of "freedom." Not only do they not care if they cause anxiety they do not care if they actually pass the virus to another person.

That is flat out bullshyte. Masks can stop bacteria, only. Viruses can't be stopped except through vaccination after one is found that works consistently without side effects. If viruses could be "cured",the common cold would be a distant memory.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

never said cured but to help stop the spread. As social distancing with a number of 6ft is believe to help reduce the spread it is believed a facial covering can further reduce the social distance needed so that more people can use limited resources ie seats on public transit.
Time in the outdoors is never wasted

We agree in places where it is voluntary that it's up to the individual. In places where it is law it's a different matter. To claim an illness that you don't have is on the same level as counterfeiting a handicapped sticker.
The other reasons not to wear masks are cognitive issues caused by mental and emotional disability or being two years old or younger. Anti-social misfits who don't wear masks need to remember however that you actually have be a two-year-old not just act like one.
