Lots of choice still to go around.

I still have a choice here. It's optional in the Peterborough area, and we haven't had a positive case since June 20th. No masks, no positive cases. Imagine that. I'm sure our health unit will be told to get on board soon enough though.

If you look around, there are studies that say the opposite too. That one wasn't hard to find. It's from 2015, but there's a recent update. I guess they've been receiving a lot of emails lately about their mask trials.

Good read. I was confused as to whether the medical masks were N95 or if that was the control group? Either way, the study I put up was literally the second in a long line of links that were talking about efficiency for the wearer controlling spread. Yours was whether or not the mask STOPPED the wearer from contracting said virus. I don't think that was ever in question.

Isn't it easier to just go into a store covered up?

How about the bus driver in France that was beaten to death for denying riders that weren't wearing masks?

Or how about that guy in Texas who attended the 'Covid is a Hoax' party and contracted the virus there? Dead at 30 yrs old.

You're right, the focus in that study was on protecting oneself, but my takeaway is that in an actual infectious disease environment the people wearing cloth masks were getting sick at a much higher rate. They also stated that cloth masks allowed a huge percentage of particles to pass through as opposed to more recent claims that they filter much more than that.

With so much conflicting information out there on masks, it hardly makes sense to mandate their use. But, if it's the answer to getting things back to normal because people seem to go along with the idea, then I guess it's the answer.

The dye is easy to see after it's activated by water, until then it's nearly invisible. If I had been working around a virus, I would have had some serious problems. Yes, I know how to wear them properly.

The real fun with dye begins when you start to unmask, remove the gloves, apron, sleeves, etc., and then see how much of yourself and the general area you contaminated with dye while you were working. All it takes is to splash a bit of water in the area. Even with the utmost care, you'll find that somehow throughout the process you'll find some of it on you. Again, if it was something deadly and not just dye... it's an eye opener.

Cross contamination with viruses works much the same way.

Still think those cloth masks are keeping others safe? If you actually have the virus and have been breathing it into that mask all day, every time you remove it and replace it between stops you are almost certainly contaminating something, likely your hands. Sanitizer won't get everything. I'll guarantee you the majority of people wearing masks are not diligent about washing and sanitizing their hands every time they handle their mask. Those people are touching surfaces all over the store. You are touching those surfaces too and at some point you'll touch your mask and possibly your face again.

I think masks have the potential to do more harm than good. Ordering the untrained masses to somehow figure out how to properly use PPE to protect those around them without infecting themselves or inadvertently spreading the virus is a downright laughable notion at best.

As I said before, I'll wear one if I have to, but I'm not buying into the "science".

Ive seen the plastic barriers that are put up in public places cleaned with a white cloth, the disgusting filth that comes off it is from people who dont wear masks. Once you see one of these barriers cleaned youll want to vomit how much crud is flung onto them from people breathing and talking. Its not rocket science that masks or face coverings restrict the transfer of vapour droplets from your mouth in which the virus is attached to. The grocery store clerk who showed me this is grateful for everyone that wears masks now.

No wonder with all the sanitizing and protocols nobody I know has even had a sore throat all year let alone a cold or any sickness. Something is working. Im normally due for a cold a few times a year but this year been healthy as a horse. Wonder why...

Exactly, as they have said all along, it's to protect others.

I guess there's no way that dust particles could be attracted to plastic by static electricity or stick to residue from previous cleaning? It must be from the mouth breathers that don't wear masks.
