    The faq did address some things but I'm not sure if things are the same here for us Canucks. Dust settling may help clear things up.

    Funny I don't see the question and I would be amazed if it wasn't frequently asked ;

    "How are we as consumers going to get screwed by this merger ? "

    There is still Amazon and a number of other mail order places in the States, we never really had any true mail order sporting goods stores until Cabelas, Basspro still ships in from the US and restricts most of our orders.

    I would assume the competition will still be enough up here to not hose us too much, except for the fact that they will all hose us together.

    I used to use S.I.R in WinPeg for mail order stuff.. which is the store Cabela's bought out to get their foot into Canada. I've never bought from them since, as I can get better pricing/shipping ordering on-line in the U.S.

    By the By; I finally made it to the new store in Ottawa, almost a year after it opened. Happened to be driving by and had some time. Not overly impressed to say the least, everything I priced out was cheaper at Canadian Tire's Hunting/Fishing Store. So they could put up either sign outside the store and it wouldn't make a difference. I will never be a 'loyal' customer.

    Older thread....but saw a video this morning about the truth behind the merger...turns out it was done by a Hedge fund speculator that destroyed the home town of Cabela's in it's wake...

    Worth watching to hear how it was done.

    (note: the part about Cabelas stats about 5 minutes in)

    I am not a huge fan of BPS/Cabelas - their house brand of products suck to say the least, and the other brands they sell are market priced (or even more). Some time back I tried to get them to price match a couple of items because I had a gift card I wanted to get rid of and both times they came up with some lame excuse as to why they could not do it (even though it was in stock at their competitors). I am at a point in my life where I do not need to dive 1Hr to save $50 on a pair of boots and would just rather support my local sporting good store(s) for my hunting and fishing needs.

    I do not shop at WalMart, or Amazon either - people need to smarten up on where they spend their money.

    If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....
