Covid 2nd Wave....fact or fiction

Not a single Politician or civil servant have lost any salary since the beginning of this Pandemic. Most were sent at full salary. Hard for them to comprehend that a lot of the public have lost their jobs and businesses due to actions of the government and have to survive on these CERB benefits.

I guess to some people using the CERB to pay for food and rent is considered living beyond their means...

Bingo, the people getting full pay could care less when they return to work. According to some they think nobody has sat at home and recieved full pay....

The good majority as you so aptly put it should not be living beyond their means.If you cannot afford stuff you should not be buying it.

I do believe that if you are a gov't employee and are not working @ 100% capacity then your pay should reflect your work capacity. If you are at 70% then you should get paid 70% of your salary. The government needs to start thinking like a business and not as an entity with bottomless pockets. By not doing this you are creating a two tiered workforce - providers and takers.

I do not think that this has anything to do with a guilty consciences but rather a fear of knowing they will get caught and face repayment and fines.

In Ottawa there are entire buildings sitting empty because they could not, to union standards, protect the 1,000 of employees from Covid..they were sent home 9 months ago.

I know a bunch of government workers who have discovered that what used to be done in an 8 hour day with all the coffee breaks, office politics, and various time sucks can now be done in 90 minutes at home and they get paid for the rest of the day

Mike, I was talking about the people that have used CERB to buy ATV’s etc and also those that were living above their means before March.

I have no issue with those that need it.

I see where Southwest airlines are asking the union for pay cuts so they don't have to lay off any workers. Going to be interesting to see just where the union stands on this one.

No need to look across the border as we as Canadians don't vote for the American president. What needs to be dealt with is the village idiot trying to run the show up here. We do have a say in that and the longer that he is captain the faster this country is sinking!!! Poor Canada.

My work pension check is based on my past earnings, what I have already earned, and worked for, so not relevant. CERB is based on lost wages, now . If you are talking about the old age pension, CERB would pay me more.

This is the greatest discovery about pensions as a whole in Canada!
I know what earning means in general-but comes across here with a whole lot of different meaning.


I am not sure where You" earned "your pension-but for sure EVERYONE in this country working is EARNING their pension(or lack of it-and they are forced to "live"on old age pension).
I bet You have worked in one of those Government "sponsored" works(where the government hands are tied with "blackmails-threats and work stoppages )to bend backwards to suit.
So-all the other ones NOT earning enough ,are forced to go for OAS or else!

By the way-those are in the majority of the "poorly performing earners",and those are the ones contributing with "lack of" their own take home money(due of taxes)to support the EARNERS!
