    Geez what a crappy situation!

Sometimes your better off hunting alone...

I hunt with very few friends and they are all stand-up guys that I trust with a gun in there hands...

Yes, there is some differences. But even if a cell phone call after the fact only gives the CO's a idea who to watch it would help. I am sure a few words have been said to him by the OP. To me the best thing is that the OP will not be there when A'hole does something major. Shooting the bear with the 22 was likely nothing more then that A'hole testing the waters.
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

This is a very interesting story and thread.
The story somehow seems not completely rounded though. Not challenging , just my opinion.

    Back to my post:
First of all-i condone what the guy did, as much as the next guy on this forum. He should be dealt with ,according to current regulations and laws. Period.

However ,us sitting at the keyboard and telling what we would do is NOT what the OP asked.
He did not asked what we would do THEN and THERE,but NOW............if i understand correctly.I can be wrong.

Telling him to punch him, insult him etc does not fit with the circumstances described.
The guy was the driver-seems the vehicle owner also. They were two of them in a vehicle,in 15 B ,alone. So ,what choices he would have-realistically?
Punch him-old vs young, swear at him-how Do anyone thinks he would get home then-if they broke camp over this(!?)then anyone can imagine if there would be more harsh words what would be the next step from the guy? Throw JUDGE out from the vehicle in the middle of 15B?Just think about it!
Rat him out then and there-yes,that would be the right thing to do, but realistically, likely non feasible.

Getting home (seems no other choice ,but with the guy)closing the door ,after arriving home, calling MNR at the very first opportunity-yes.

Many here realistically stated -his words against the guys word.
Since there was no animal taken out from the bush, there is NOT even an evidence available-so his story against the guys story? To find a bear shot with a 22 in the bush is doable, but highly unlikely........so then what?

Yet calling in at the first opprtunity to do so ,without putting himself in a tight spot ,would close the case for JUDGE.
By that time-ties sewered, guy away(no dependancy and no imminent threat)-yep,there could be "reprecussions"from the guy,but that is what it is.

Posting this on the Forum helps no one, can not give answer to the question, and delays the steps to be taken .
It does show that many many hunters take regulations and ethics seriously-very good thing, but also gives the Antis a good opportunity to Cheery Pick ,and take pieces out from a context ,to hurt hunting.

These things should be dealt with, promptly ,but not in public.

    just my 2 cents.

How close were you to this fellow? Is he a friend?..a friend of a friend?..I am lucky enough to NOT have friends or acquaintances like the jerk shooting like that. I for one would never have ridden with him while a loaded gun was in the truck and would have said something in the first place. Then I would have kicked his . But you left out a lot of details about the hunt..the way it was structured and who and how many were there. Fill in the blanks if you want honest opinion.

Ya, that is an ugly situation all around and I feel for you. I am with a great group of hunters and we all have a similar mindset - we hunt for fun first and meat second, so there is no need to bend rules & laws in order so harvest something.

I hope it works out for you buddy!

Fox, would you relax ... I said "what's not simple ..." I didn't say "Don't report it" ... you make it sound like we are just robots pushing buttons.
You say, it's simple, it's easy ... NO IT'S NOT!

So chill, and don't make this look like we are baking cookies. It's more complicated than that!

It doesn't matter what Fox says I never pay any attention to what he has to say.
He just likes to comment on just about anything.
