Masks were never about prevention..it was an implemented policy by politicians as a 'symbol' to remind people that the Virus was out there and they should still wash their hands and stop touching their face...the original instructions from the WHO and Dr. Tam. People were getting rather complacent after the first 4 months.

After 9 months of the original 'masking' order, I still see people trying to get into a store without wearing one. ??? I was already in a store the other day when another customer tried to come in without one. The employee said , "sorry sir you cant come in without a mask on '. The customers reply was..... 'if I have to wear a mask I won't spend my money here' .The employees reply was priceless. 'Good, GET OUT', come back when you have some sense'. I thanked her for that, when I was at the cash.

Good for the employee. Yet, with mask wearing and general hygiene practises, the virus is still expanding,so,I'm not the least bit convinced that mask wearing is the be-all-end-all in defeating this infection. The vast, vast majority of the population are largely uninfected, those who are don't even know it or have very minor symptoms for an exceedingly short time period with severe symptoms and deaths affecting people who are or were already with compromised systems. beforehand. The media would have us believe that our hospitals are stuffed full of Covid patients with no other people having other illnesses completely unrelated to Covid-19,but,that's patently untrue because statistical figures closely analyzed don't bear that out.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

My wife used to work in the ER /Trauma center in the Civic Hospital in Ottawa....90% of the the time they ran at 110% capacity...that has never changed.

Adding a handful of Covid patients into the mix is really not a factor. With 6 major hospitals, 1200 beds and only 56 hospitalized Covid patients during this 'tsunami' 2nd wave, they aren't being overwhelmed like the media would have us believe....

Haha I hear ya! A few guys with data plans kept giving us the headlines... after a couple of days they were ignored. It was a nice change of pace.

All this while most of the worlds responsible governments are putting their citizens into a way more restrictive and severe lockdown. Some places have a curfew , and when you are found outside , you go directly to jail. Some people are still saying that our government was not doing enough at the beginning, even though everyone knew it was coming here anyway. There was no way to keep it from coming to North America. Do you want Canada to be the only country in the world to go a different route? Ya that will be good, we can say we lost 10,000 to covid, but we only lost X number to suicide. Do you think that the families that lose a member to covid will be content in the knowledge ,that they lost their family member, so someone else would not commit suicide?
Accually many countries have all different kinds of regulations they might be similar situations but they are all being dealt with in different ways. They also had riot's and destroying neighborhood's. When the public citizen this the government went to far.

    .

.02 % accually ain't that bad if you look at the suspected overdose for Ontario it's not far off of covid numbers. I buried my grandmother on Monday I was not the only person who lost a loved one a a friend was also at a funeral on Monday . Both without covid 19 people die every day .

If you really want to get technical about the covid 19 death's why is 80 % at long term care homes? 80%of covid deaths have been in long term care homes.

Why is it psw and rn workers are the ones looking after the majority of the deaths. Maybe this a problem . Not sure what a personal support worker has to fix the problem . They are not doctors are they really getting the treatment's they need?.

Studies show in the US as cases climb the death rate is dropping they kinda have a handle on it with proper treatment . Not here out death rate is the same .

Remember who is dieing and looking after our dead it ain't no doctor [emoji24] it isn't a covid patients center where they can get the proper care and treat covid patients on a daily basis .

So if 80 percent of our deaths are coming from long term care homes what should be done to help this problem. ? Remember they are not being taken to the hospital for treatment they are dying in these homes . Is that what our elders deserve or can we do better the help the place that needs it the most

I've read enough about masks to be convinced that it is better if everyone wore them in indoor public places than not to. I also regard the anti-maskers as conspiracy theory, anti-government kooks and weirdos. Of course if anyone of them gets the virus they'll be demanding immediate care from, duh, the government. Personally I'd put them last in line.

I've cut back my activities in response to the surge. No more indoor dining, fewer grocery trips, more online buying, etc. And do not effing think about coming near me if you are not wearing a mask inside a store.
