Maybe has something to do with the fact just released that the age group 12-15 now has the highest % of positive tests at over 7% of those tested. Youthful rebellion with their friends, taking off the masks when no adult around ?

Those kids don't hang out in LTC homes where the spread is high. Or maybe it some of the new Canadians celebrating their cultures with no regard to distancing and laws of large groups.

The exposure in LTC homes is no different from anywhere else. Its just that the residents are far more susceptible to its exposure than most everyone else.

SB... and the testing is more rigorous, for staff , residents and visitors. The increase is most likely to be because of people not following the rules. So follow the rules or you will become a spreader , you mask less bastards. Exclude LTC, once the most infections come from the schools they will be shut. If the numbers continue to rise the students will likely not be going back after christmas.

That pretty much sums up the whole Covid scenario. This in not a real 'killer' virus, if your healthy the vast majority of the people deal with it like any flu/virus. People who are immunocompromised or underlying medical conditions tend to need medical intervention, but even in them, most survive. Unfortunately the health of those residents in the LTCs are already too compromised to survive the added problems Covid inflicts and where the death rates are the highest.

The best thing, unfortunately for our society, at this point is just to let the virus runs it course. Not be callous as to what this means, but natural herd immunity is our best option to control the spread of it. Do a better job of protecting those who need it and hope that the vaccines will soon be available to give us wider protection.

Society has long had the ability to impose sanctions on miscreants who deliberately flout public safety laws or engage in behavior that presents a possible threat to other individuals. Examples would be a person who drives an unsafe vehicle on public highways or a hunter who points his firearm at another person while in the field or a self-centered little turd who conjures up an imaginary medical condition to justify not wearing a mask in a public place during a pandemic.

The sale of each item you mentioned is tightly controlled along with who and where they can be consumed. It is a compromise between some measure of government control or society facing an entirely unregulated illegal market.

Sanctioned, maybe , permitted would be better. If done properly, within reason, it does not have to affect others adversely.
