Preparedness and you - How prepared are you for a 30 day shutdown

Even during the ice storm you could get fuel in areas that did not have power. They used generators as well. It would still be possible to get fuel, unless the world runs out of oil.
I keep generally 100 liters of gas on hand, well 80 liters now as one can needs to be replaced. The generator is kept full. I also test the generator twice a year spring and fall and run for about 30 minutes to make sure it's working good.

The ice storm was localized disaster. When the real SHTF , are those petroleum workers going to stay on the job? Going to work? Or are they going to be running for the hills ,to look after their own like everyone else? Are you going to leave your bunker back in the woods ,to go get more gas, in your car? To be truly safe you are going to have to be as far from civilization as possible,( with no need to go back), otherwise you will be overrun by those hungry desperate unprepared people , who want your stuff.

Don't know, but I will still have an easier time of surviving then most.
Also as I have said my generator has already saved me over 1500 in food.
We get power outage frequently in the Spring lasting a day, without the generator I would have lost all my food. My whole system has paid for itself.
Since I can heat with wood I will never have a problem finding heat. 30 face cord outback and 10 by the house.
This will be the first year in 12 years that I pay for heat as I installed a heat pump for a change of life style and will now only heat with wood part time.

Your freezer is full, and there is 50 hungry people in your driveway. ?? And 3 million starving people from the city heading your way. Their thinking , no food left in the city, must be some in the country, where they grow it, lets head there. With their Glocks. Better have a scope on that rifle, can't let them get to close.

Truth is what I am really preparing for is situations like Ice Storms etc.

Anyone relying on the government and especially this one is in for a fail.

The government actually suggest people should be prepared for extended power outages. Many people are now having them installed.

The Government also recommends you keep 3 - 4 weeks of food on hand.

So seems the government is pretty much telling people to be preppers.

I know of no apartment dweller that has room for more than a couple of weeks worth of food, unless they use a bedroom for storage, but there is four sleeping in there.

First of all BS, I use to live in a small appt, my son lives in a small app in Toronto.
What your saying is they don't want to be prepared. There is always away.

How many apartment renters would have a freezer except for the one on the apartment sized fridge? For some people living in apartments, money is a big issue, many live day to day, and having a months supply would be unheard of. What about the people who rely on foodbanks to survive? They can't keep up with the demand now.

When it all goes up in flames it won't matter. It will be a true reset and survival of the fittest will be all thats left. You won't be worried about how the crackheads are holding up, you will be worried when they are coming to eat you. Lol
