I thought everyone watched 'The Walking Dead' and had a pretty good idea how it was going to play out....minus the zombies.

Ha! Well, if nothing else people need to realize that no matter how much prepping they do individually, a group will come and take what you have.
If you don't have a few like-minded folks to ride out a real SHTF with, you're screwed.

There are a lot of like minded folks in the country. Heck every farmer I know has a generator and some around here have 2. They have to be able to continue working if the power goes out.

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

I hunt with an old Xcal, Exomax. I also have a Bear compound.. silent but deadly, you will be through and through, before you know what hit you. Sometime it is difficult to find the bolt and after a couple of years, I will run out.
