So listen Napoleon when you have something of interest please post and don't tell the moderators what to do. Did I miss a good "teacher"...bashing....Union debate?

I must say, other than squeeking about classroom sizes over the summer. It was more than refreshing that they've been oddly quiet for a change. Wonder why.

Gilroy, the Carbon Tax on LNG is ever so slightly higher, than the tax on Propane. Not sure the exact numbers, can't be bothered to look it up. Maybe something like 3.09% vs 3.05%.

Our house is what I might call reasonable/modest at just under 1800 square feet. We actually wanted to find a small bungalow, but as with so much you know where. People have been buying those, razing them, and building bigger/better. Hard to come by. Our bill for last winter call it $2,600. Maybe it was closer to $3,000 for the year.

Nat Gas for me in a similar house in Whitby was $110/month ( equal billing) or call it $1,200 year.

    4% ( LNG) on $1,200?????
    3.5% ( PrP) on $3,0000????

Same with Hydro Rates, people in the country are getting reamed. When the hard truth is, it's the "city". That we can see from the moon from at night.

    Here's a "scary" thought.
No doubt, in a year or two JT and the Green Brigades are going to subsidize EVs. Aside from 70% not being able to afford them subsidy or not.Who exactly can we expect to take advantage of the subsidies. "Funded by Rural Canada". Because they can't adapt, can't move to more affordable greener alternatives......Where exactly is the grid lock? Cars idling at drive throughs? and so much more....

I wonder, if we look at the Agriculture, Dairy, or meat farming industry. Ok, fine, I'll buy into the green arguments. Why are their emissions going through the roof, accelerating Climate Change?

Hydro rates are insane. All the socialists in the city, if they really want to even things out they should put and extra $20 a month on high density residential bills. They do that rural residents may be able to make some changes to offset the pollution.

Fox, sometimes depending on the specific topic I liken it to bashing “teachers”. When it’s the Unions. Or red Toronto. Do we really think everyone in the GTA votes Liberal?. That’s why I quote “city”.

Is it the people? Sure, to one degree or another. But more so the sheer numbers. Do they pay for the hydro for street lights, traffic lights, and all the bright lights? Yeah through land taxes. Price of a ticket at the theatres, ACC. Enough? Hard to say. But doubtful. How much Hydro does the TTC use?

Is it the people, or sheer numbers that cause grid lock, and lineups at drive throughs? Well we didn’t build a million Wind Turbines because people in Small Town Ontario....small town Ontario just pays for it..

    Lifestyle
The big city, the fast life, a life of convenience.......money and the Jones. Etc etc.

Many here point to China and India. Masses of humanity. Well China is to the world, what big cities are to Ontario.....

    Possible “fairer” solutions?
    Quite a few.

I saw a graph yesterday showing the top 10 percent pollute way more then the poor.

The top ten percent usually have more cars bigger houses to heat ,take trips travel more frequently .

    JBEN,

I have both a rural and city property so I pay at both end's, yes I subsidize my local schools in Coe Hill and the Police and the Fire.

I get to do the same in Mississauga pay all over again.

The most I get in the country for my own use is snow ploughing which actually I do not need because I am gone before the snow, but for general road maintenance I am ok paying that.

But should I still be paying taxes as a full time resident when I am there only half the year?

Where do you get the crazy idea that " small town Ontario just pays for it." That is simply fiction.

So for home heating I know plenty of people up north who heat almost entirely by wood, that is how my place is heated.

They say that this is carbon neutral. Tons of wood available for free if one takes the time to look for it and willing to work.

Your hydro up north is obviously going to be more expensive "economy of scale", cost of line loss ,maintenance of line's, high cost of labor and equipment.(take a look at all the equipment sitting in hydro yards never moving).

Up my way Democracy has been hijacked by a bunch of folk's in a trailer park. Mr Harris gave them all a couple of VOTES for each trailer site in order to impose MPAC taxes on them. The result the biggest land owners paying the MOST getting the least say in what goes on in the township, as the two trailer parks have enough votes to sponsor any candidate.

So your land taxes are basically "coffee money" as far as Ontario is concerned and on a personal basis I am paying land taxes
for a trailer park to run the township and get there way.

I will not mention gas is almost always 10-12cents a liter up north LESS than what it is in the City.

    As I said. “Puns intended”
Rural small townjust pays for it.....

I can see where this is heading now. I hope it doesn’t.

I had a good paying job in the city. Relative to the vast majority of others, a very good paying job. Why did I have that job?. Why are there office towers at the foot of Bay....why are the evil, greedy banks there....

Why would Ford give GM 400,000,000 but Leamimgton or Coe hill squat? Why would GM want headquarters in Oshawa?

Why does 70% of all immigration head there?

Because there’s no infrastructure? Your job, your life, your ability to have a cottage. All of it....

    thanks to
“if you build it, they will come”. And 400B debt

    your welcome.....

    Now on that topic.
No doubt, as with all industry, they pay discounted rates for Hydro. So you can have or keep your job........

I am so sick of pampered “Cityiots” who think they are all that....and despite how much I still like certain aspects of the city.

/points to around 2006 and the “cityiots” sticking their heads in the sand as Hydro rates started soaring, and good jobs outside the city.

    went poof
