Just reading the Quinte forum and someone went in this afternoon and didn't make it back out. Prayers to the family and to anyone going out stay safe wear a floatation device of some sort and use that spud!

That's an area you would want to always check until it gets real cold . . Hasn't been that cold yet crappy deals . My wife got me a float suit few years cuz I'm always on thin ice . But someone's gotta check it how you know it's ready without checking .
Condolences to the family

Man,that sucks. Quinte is always dicey at the best of times.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

She posted photos of a really big stretch of open water in front of their place. Almost half way across the bay. Yesterday she posted a photo of a couple of fishing huts not more than 100 yards from the open water. Later she posted photos of the rescue taking place.( you can see the great flares in the second photo that were used during the rescue)
No fish is worth taking these kinds of risks. While I feel sorry for the family and friends involved, this was entirely preventable.

Preventable....yes! Guys seem to push their chances every year, and pay the price. Sad !!!
