    Default Late morning coyote

Got to the property around 10:45 am... Notice the farmer doing some work in the barn. We chatted for about 30 minutes. As I headed out into the bush he wished me luck...
I normally hunt the open field edge looking into the bush. I usually try to draw the coyote out into the open field but with it being almost mid-day and the sun shining pretty bright, hunting in the bush seemed like the best option.....
I walked into the set with the wind in my face, sat about 70 yds from the open field (the open field is now 70 yds behind me) and placed my caller/decoy about 20 yds in front of me....
I started off with a quiet dying rabbit sound but after 10 minutes decided to go to coyote howls..... Almost immediately I hear a coyote howling back at me from my 12 o'clock position (maybe 500 yds?)..... A few more howls prompts another coyote to howl and this one is coming from my 3 o'clock position (again maybe 500yds?-pretty far as I can barely hear them)......
After doing this howling back and forth a few times, I play a dying rabbit for a few minutes but nothing show so I switch back to coyote howls (switching from male to female howls).... I can still hear the one from my 3 o'clock sounding off but not any closer...
At this point I have been on stand for about 20 minutes.... Now I decide that I will sit quietly for 10 minutes and see if one of these coyotes comes in to take a look. After about 6-7 minutes of silence, I look to my 3 o'clock and there she is, on the peek of the hill looking around for that coyote.... I gentle swing my rifle over and drop her in her tracks.... Not a big coyote but a nice looking pelt on her.....Dropped in to show the farmer, he snapped some pictures of me holding it up, he was very happy....

Wow almost 11am! Good thinking making the set in the hardwoods.nice shooting.

Did you sit any longer to see if the other showed up?

It was actually 11:35 when I shot her
About the other one, no I didn't stick around. In the excitement, I kind of forgot about it but now that you mentioned it, it might have been a good idea to stick around a bit more and try and lure the other in too......
In my defense, I knew the farmer was still out in the barn and probably heard the shot so wanted him to see it.....
