I can’t even begin to guess how many ground hogs I’ve taken with a 22. If you hit them right they don’t move even an inch.
I also can tell you that many 22’s I’ve seen at the range that can’t even hold close to MOA. So far I can count them on one hand that can. 3 to 5 MOA is typical.
So taking a squirrel at 100 yards you are more apt to take a leg off or a nose.
50 yards is quite a different story.
You are claiming that a 22LR at 100 yards does not have enough energy to kill a squirrel or a groundhog, wow, the validity of your posts just took a huge hit.
50 yards is nothing with a 22LR, I used to shoot cream of mushroom soup cans at 100 yards with a Cooey 82 and iron sights, we would also shoot starlings sitting in the pasture with a 22LR at 100 yards with a 2.5x scope, that rifle is a BSA Supersport Five. I never said run and get down the hole, I said they would make it down the hole, normally they are sitting on the mound of their hold and just turn and fall in to the hole. The 222 Rem is a lot more messy with a groundhog at 100 yards but saying the 22LR is not a valid groundhog gun at 100 yards is a joke.

Not worried about your perception of my credibility Fox.
Don’t misquote me.
Accuracy on most 22 is absolute crap at 100 yards. Still has enough jam at 100 so no argument there but it is anemic compared to any other CF.
50 yards is another story and they are often sub MOA - why do you think that is?
how big is your kill zone on a chuck? Good enough for the shake of hand and inherent shyte typical 22 accuracy?
Come on guys get real.
I have a T1X in the basement that is absolutely one of the most accurate 22’s I have ever owned. Except for the odd flyer.... what happens there? Missing leg, wounded chuck, half shot up squirrel?
Ammo consistency is also crap on rimfire.
At 100 yards I’d take any other CF in the safe. They all shoot sub moa at 100 with a decent hand load. Not tough to achieve.
I’ll also state that when I was a kid I couldn’t judge distance for crap. I doubt many of us could. I had a yard wheel around the house that worked ok.

I saw a video years ago of a guy who wrapped a turkey in denim and shot it from 300m away with a 22lr.
That was enough to convince me

It all depends on the rifle and the ammo. This guy was comparing regular 22 ammo and the 22 quiet ammo and you can see the impact shift.

The only 200 yards shots with a 22 on a coyote I would recommend..

.... out to 1000 yards?.. super impressive 22... .5" at 100 yards

Think you can hit all 7 at 30 yards?
