CN looks like a good investment to me at this time. The stock has taken a few hits and shows a nice yoyo motion to ride on.

As Gates and those in the ultra rich they seem to be trying for the sci-fi book I read, there were only 6 companies in the world, governments were essentially gone and the super rich lived.... well they kind of lived like what you hear those like Gates living now.

There have been taxes implemented but Canadians can buy on the island, they do not have to be from the island.

Bill Gates is buying land in the US, as an American citizen.

Well this took an unexpected turn.

Should foreigners be limited to how much they can own?
In another thread, all kinds of speculation about a R/E crash. Some think foreigners buying up property is too blame. In Vancouver at least a case can be made. But let's assume that is a primary reason for property values exploding. Post crash, once values are down 25%-50%. Would those same foreign millionaires and billionaires not gobble it all up, leaving nothing or little for us? If Gates does in fact already own a lot of farm land...

As previously stated, many moons ago. Foreign ownership in this and that was far tighter

I remember back in the regime of Trudeau 1,the government introduced the Foreign Investment Review Agency that was another huge boondoggle that chased billions of dollars out of the country. Let's not go there, again.

It is not foreign investment in land though, it is foreign investment in a company, buying stocks in a publicly traded company.

    I know

Which depending on the industry has limits. Recently raised from 25% to 50% for transportation and broadcasting. Regardless, if we are ok with foreigners owning and controlling Canadian companies like Tim Hortons, or Potash (blocked), or many former mining and steel greats....Why not all of the 416 post crash. They'd certainly have $$ such that no one could compete.........

    point being.
Whether the 416 or CN. Just because they can, doesn't mean they should.
And with respect to the initial post and possible reasons why certain eco and virtue signalling warriors in the US might want to kill pipelines....

Some choose to keep a closed mind and not research what is happening around them. That is fine.
I support my opinion with documented evidence. I don't invent anything. Simply present it for discussion and reflection.
Time for everyone to have a serious look at the agenda currently being rolled out.
It has been accelerated since Biden took office.
Remember, Trudeau has publicly stated he is a disciple of the Great Reset.

"Second, the Paris climate agreement pledges to keep climate change to well-below 2 degrees C. Given that food systems - growing food and feed, making and transporting food, cooking, eating and throwing food away - accounts for just under a third of greenhouse gas emissions, food alone has the potential to use up the entire Paris agreement’s carbon budget. As many people have written, the most potent way to “decarbonise” the food system is to reduce the amount of greenhouse-intensive food we produce – notably meat."

But I might invest if it's good enough for Gates it is good enough for me.
