Nonsense, the reality is that unlike gov't tax money most donations do some good far above the actual amount... money in the governments hand is wasted and studies have shown $1 has as little as $0.25 benefits where $1 to a charity or cause often allows them to provide $1.50 or more in benefits due to the volunteers and efforts of the people involved. Imagine if the gov't ran the local food banks or places like Covenant House or Scott's mission they likely wouldn't exist for one, would cost 5X or probably much more if they did and would be manned by civil servants who maybe half didn't give a sh**. That and the ones donating ARE taxpayers, so in reality a proponent of that idea is clueless of it being nothing but nonsense or b.s. out of some Liberal or Communist worshipper of big gov't and dictatorships.

I can see your point clearly and what your trying to say but it is a little off the OP and where it was going.

That being said I would just like to say some of these charities we donate out money to do a lot of good. The Scott Mission I have a very long association with going back for at least 40 years and I know the family that run's it. Very decent Christian folk's that do a whole lot of good for the newcomers to the country and people down on their luck.

I do remember about a decade ago they started getting funding from the City of Toronto for the out of the cold program but within a few weeks the City was dictating how they should run the whole show and they reverted back to their own well run plan without their funding.

MP.. But I do not switch all the other numerous threads that I do read into a political debate. That IS the point. I read almost all threads, fishing, hunting , photos, etc. Does that mean I must comment on them all? With things like ' nice fish, good shot'. If I posted something about my Muskie fishing exploits, someone would ask, and then condemn me, if the lure was not made in Canada, and I just can't be bothered. You went back three years to check what I have posted. That is just so sad. and says a lot.

There are probably at least 6 other regular posters on here that basically only post on the off topic and political thread's, why are you highlighting one over the other?

If a poster only want's to post on those sections why would anyone care.

I actually go back on old posts a lot, generally when one guy or another accuses a person of being a "troll" and go figure they have a whole bunch of posts calling other folk's trolls and that is the main content of their posts. LOL
