The FDA is meeting today to review J&J Covid vaccine - this vaccine requires only one shot - it is 66% effective at preventing moderate to severe Covid -19 - 28 days after vaccination - It is 85% effective preventing severe disease - the Corvid vaccine will prevent hospitalizations and provide protection against severe illness - it is also effective against a new strain of coronavirus found in Africa - this is different from the other two - Modema and Pfizer vaccines in the way its made - Researchers took DNA from the coronavirus and put it in a shell called an adenovirus - the adenovirus cannot replicate in your system or make you sick. it acts like a Trojan horse by entering your system like a virus would and then prompting your body to create antibodies - J&J has decades of research on adenovirus vaccines including the Ebola vaccine , the HPV vaccine, the hepatitis B vaccine and one of the influenza vaccines

I think I am going to wait and see if this vaccine becomes available - I like the idea of only one shot - it seems if you get the shot and still get the virus it won't be bad and won't kill you - at this time if you sign up for the shot you can't specify which one you want since the supply is still limited -

That is the exact reason I'm also holding out for the 'traditional vaccine too Joe. It's only common sense to trust a tried and true vaccine rather than rushing into a technology (mRNA) that has yet top be properly trialled in the general population. Maybe it will prove out to be the future of vaccines, who knows, but for this time around I'll stick with the traditional approach.

The way It is working down here - you don.t get a choice at this time because there isn't surplus vaccine - once there is enough to go around to everyone who wants it I guess you will be able to pick which one you want - I suspect that the other two manufactures will be working on getting their vaccines a one shot deal - one other thing about the J&J vaccine is that it can be kept for months in a refrigerator whereas the other two require special handling at extreme low temperatures

I do believe that is the same as up here, stand in line and get the 'shot' of the day. I'll put my request in with the clinic where my family Dr. is and they can call me when they have a vile of J&J come in and if it take til next Flu season , so be it.

I have the right to have a choice, I'll be exercising it.

Nope I am going with the Phizer Vaccine, everything I read about it makes sense.

Thanks for the information Joe. That vaccine is certainly a lot more appealing than the other 2 options.

The only trouble is some people get long term problems after getting the virus - can screw up your lungs - and some people die regardless how old they are -

66% Effective, and Pfizer is 97% effective, Pfizer seems the better choice.
