Simcoe perch bite & ice
Looking for a report on the ice on the south and east shores of Simcoe. Lots of ice I am sure but any cracks developing yet ?
I see a few videos on another forum , lots of baby perch but not many jumbos - anyone catching ?

Haven't been for perch since first ice.
Cracks on the east side are minimal or none at all at the moment. Definitely not the usually ones that should be there.
Got big fish brain for the next 20 days till closer. I'll target the Jumbo's after the 15th.
This thaw should get the jumbos moving soon. Supposed to go up to 7 on Sunday that will clear the snow . From what I seen today the snow wasn't that bad where I was. . Walking wasn't that bad but I still stuck to the main trail .
Also sent you a pm .
Good luck.

Looking pretty warm next week with a little rain, I imagine the clock is ticking for safe ice on Simcoe.
If I’m out for perch are we better on the east side off Beaverton or south side going in from Jackson Pt or maybe Virginia B ? We’ll be walking out. First time to Simcoe for me and I’m pretty careful with my son in tow, recommendations are appreciated

JP perch is really a hit and miss was an old time favorite but as the gobies came the whitties have moved the perch around including sibalds.
VB is a good bet for your son as it's pretty shallow if your in a hut it's great for sight fishing.
Beaverton is a far walk out looking at 2km but should be picking up soon.
Willow beach should start to pick up soon too but can be slow if there not around.
Also heard sibalds could also be picking up for perch $12.25 to park for the day in change or credit if you have the navionics maps I can show you a few a spots that usually always produce some fish. Last. Year the perch didn't come in to sibalds till about now . Pre fishing the ms tournament was barely any they were there on the tournament day.
They are not schooling up as the fish are still in their deep winter spots . This warm spell should get things fired up and the fish moving in .
I'm hoping for another 3 weeks of ice . Cold is coming back after the warm spell I will be chasing the perch after the 15th hoping it keeps the ice stable a bit longer. But I doubt we will have April ice this season will have to see that the temperature brings mid month.
Good luck .

Looking forward to next week's temps it will get things moving.
Plus 10 on Wednesday I'll be out getting a nice tan lol. Already looks like I spent a week in Florida this past week really put a tan on in my face [emoji2].
Hopefully the whitties pick up skunked both Wednesday and Thursday lol. Outch lol.
