The great thing about Canada is that most of the population does not feel a need or a want to go off to Cabela's and buy a couple of handgun's or an AR type of rifle. The constant fear displayed by American's about neighbor's, ethnic communities,
the need to live in gated communities with armed guards, even armed guard's in school's is ABNOMAL, its a pity you do not
realize its not normal.

Just as I predicted years ago that crime would increase up there - I am also predicting that Canadians will someday feel the need to arm themselves - from the riots that were going on down here and the lack of police protection citizens felt they better get prepared to defend themselves - you wait - it will happen up there too - you are just a couple years behind
All that is needed is some disaster that makes food scare and gas unavailable the place will fall apart - citizens will be on their own - can you imagine living in some of the big cities this past summer when the so called peaceful demonstrations destroyed everything they could get their hands on while the cops stood and watched because some liberal politician told them to stand by - the only way to control a mob is by fire power
What's normal? - what was normal 10 - 20 -30 years ago ain't normal today - Gilroy - old buddy - you are living in the past - your not aware what is going on in some of our big cities - it won't be long and it will spill out into the suburbs and spill up into your neck of the woods - get ready

Most of us here will be feeding dew worms long before that ever happens. This ain't the States and our mentality just isn't what yours is when it comes to guns. Besides, we don't have the population or the poverty needed to fuel rampant gun crime that you folks enjoy.

Lots of gun crime in our cities. Shootings are pretty much a daily occurrence in Toronto.

When I left the Maritimes you very rarely ever heard of anyone having handguns on the streets. It's not like that anymore.

It's nowhere on the scale it is in most American cities. As I seem to recall, they have 10 times our population but 50 times the firearms related deaths.
I should add too that in an 11 month period there has been 578 mass shootings in th states. It's not even news worthy anymore.

You got to look at the big picture - the definite trend is that things are getting worse with regard to crime, morals, - cheating, stealing, killing and just about everything - what will drastically change this trend - I don't see anything coming along - just as you would look at trends when you evaluate a stock on the stock market - you look at trends to guess what the future will be like - all the bad stuff will continue to grow until you are faced with it up in Canada -

That is because your news came from the maritimes.
The fact is that gun crime is significantly lower than it was in the 70s, the problem is that if there is one gun crime anywhere in the country we see it 18000 times and hear about it about as many.
