"the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" - the Bill of Rights to the constitution were written to protect the people from the government - there have been several cases brought before the Supreme Court dealing with the 2nd amendment - all have protected the citizens rights to bear arms

When a government requires its citizens to register their firearms there is only one more step to be taken to disarm the citizens - I was driving behind this pickup truck one time - the guy had a rifle rack attached in front of the back window of the cab - he had a bumper sticker which read - "my wife ok - my dog maybe - my gun never"

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the right to keep and bear arms. It was ratified on December 15, 1791

So you're telling me in 1791 they wanted to take your guns away? The reason that Bill was put into existence in the first place was so people could protect themselves from invaders when they didn't have a army or a force to protect their towns and land. You have an army. And people to protect your lands. Only reason that bill is still here is because people still think that's what it is to be a patriot.

Only 3 countries in the world protect the right to bear arms in their constitutions: theUS,Mexico, andGuatemala. So you're telling me that every other country in the world is on its way to dictatorship?

JoePa, good to hear we still have some great neighbors to the south.

The US, Mexico and Guatemala. Yup those are places that you are most likely to be killed, while going to the grocery store, church , school. How is that working for them?...... But , but, they get to have their guns.

Is there a constitution in China. A list of 'rights' for citizens. I think not. Guns against tanks, and everything else the military can throw against you. Apples to oranges. I don't fear the military with weapons. I fear the nut job next door who just lost his job, wife, mind, etc. More likely to be killed by him, than the government.

Without a shot being fired. Guns helped how? Would armed insurrection end the lock downs? NBL.

Joe, I’m against most bans. Strongly against controls that don’t address identifiable actual problems. But why did you omit what is arguably the most important part of the second?

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

    Be that as it may.
In this day age, I’d love to see your militias try to stop a tyrant.

Your bringing plastic forks to a gun fight. It’s just utterly ridiculous. The Iraqi army stood a better chance. They atleast have some armour and heavy arms...

As for nut bars that snap.
    /cry

And feeling like you can’t live without a gun on you, or in case of a couple guys from Maine I met. That wouldn’t let their wives go out unless packing. That’s not freedom, it’s living in fear and prison. Worse that fear of a tyrannical govt. because it’s real vs a bad dream that just might. Maybe, just might some day happen. And the prices your paying in gun deaths per capita. Sickening. You can move mountains, spend trillions for 2,000 that died on 9/11. But the 10 or 15,000 that die every year?
