I second the headshot/base of neck). If the turkey runs then your chances of finding it are slim. Turkey leave absolutely zero sign of being shot, other than a few feathers left behind. No blood, nothing. All you can do is watch where the sucker went. And go from there. When they're injured and hide in the bush they might as well be wearing an invisibility cloak... My first turkey was a thigh shot and he flew 80 yards and crashed at the edge of the bush. I gave him 45 minutes. I scanned the area I saw him crash at DOZENS of times, he was basically where I saw him land and I must've almost stepped on him a few times.

I’m trying the Magnus bullhead in a 125 grain with uncut Easton bloodlines in a 330 spine and 6 fletching. Practice on an old pillow is what I’ve been doing. Also turned down the poundage to 55lbs. All set to chop turkey heads.

Personal preference, but to put it simply, a shotgun is too easy and has gotten boring for me. Same reason I don't hunt deer in the rifle season any more. It's too easy.

Avoiding to wake-up the farmer's family with shotgun blasts early in the morning, & permission given for archery only around some small farms could be other factors to consider.

Its more of a challenge with a bow, My personal goal (bet to my self) was to take a Turkey with a bow first, then progress to shotgun.
