Bear Baiting Spring 2021 WMU57 review
Just wondering what everyone else is seeing right about now? My baits are getting visits but Bears staying for 1 pic and leaving. Barely feeding. The odd 1 year old hangs around. Action is VERY SLOW.

Hi there,
I have bait stations a tad west of your WMU, and I am seeing something similar
Visits between 1am-4am, and rather short. Quick smelling around, a few tries to feed then move on
I have longer visits from moose and foxes
Sows and cubs stay in average 2hrs
(This is my first DIY) so take my lack of experience into account pls
Did another honey burn tonight, will see what shows up tomorrow
Good luck

Almost Identical.....I’m in WMU 60.
Had two different bears at one site. All nocturnal and the would feed over several nights between 10-11 and 3-4 and move on. At another site just smelled around, a few light attempts to move the logs and left.
Very different to the last two years where they would clean out the bait at different hours - day and night. This year has been very slow. Seeing the same type of experiences on FB across the province.
All pics I have bears look very healthy. I thought that maybe because the winter was not as harsh as the last two years (in my area at least) that their fat stores lasted longer so they’re not feeding as aggressively but I’m inexperienced (third year DIY) so I’m probably totally wrong here.
I’m just hoping that when they do decide to hit they hit hard - just staying positive.
There are some very experienced members on this site who have probably seen this before - hopefully they’ll chime in.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone.

If you had an early spring, then my guess is that you are competing with natural foods such as tender green shoots of vegetation.

We weighed both bears before field dressing.
Big boar 227lbs and the other was a boar as well 130lbs.
Mine is the 130lbs one. Great eating bear!
