Default Anyone got the Shingles Vaccine?

I am curious if anyone has gone and gotten the shingles vaccine now or in the past?

If so did you get Shingrix?

I have not nor do I know of anyone, commercials sure do make it out to be pretty painful.... Hopefully that vaccine helps keep it at bay.

I did ,do not remember what was it though. It was in deep freezer ,and was taken out shortly before i got it,since it has short lifespan outside the freezer.Zero impact, zero pain for me.

My dad had shingles, and it was panful for quite a while ,my coworker got shingles,he was off for a week with pain.
I read about it,and made up my mind quickly when realized, it can disfigure one's face, or even blind a person,..........
    Your call,but i recommend it.

Don’t you have to be 65 or doctor recommends you to be 65. I’ve talked to doctor about the shingles vaccine. Mom and dad both had it. Very painful

I got the older version, the Zostavax vaccine the moment I heard about it GW. I got hit with a mild case of Chicken pox when I was in my early 50's, as it is the same virus as shingles the Dr. recommended I get the vaccine.

I was told I have to go back next year for the Shingrix when I'm 65.

My buddy got the shingles 2 winters ago...he was in a lot of pain for a few months with it. Not something you want.

    It's pricey....

Shingles vaccines are costly. One dose of Zostavax costs about $200; each dose of Shingrix costs roughly $150. Prices vary across Canada. Some health insurance plans cover the cost of these vaccines. Ontario provides the older Zostavax vaccine free of charge to residents 65 to 70 years old. British Columbia, Quebec and most other provinces do not pay for shingles vaccines.

My fiancé did 2 winters ago when she came down with Shingles. It knocked her on her backside for a few weeks.

I don’t recall specifics, if it’s at all pertinent, PM me and I can ask her.

Also, for her because she was about 1 year after Chemo, there were or are some downsides and something to be aware of. Again, I can ask.

A couple years back I did get the shingles' vaccine, it was one of the first ones out, my spouse had shingles once and thought it a good idea. At the time, the vaccine appeared to have some active version of the virus, which they were suppose to remedy with a new vaccine, with an inactive version of the virus. My spouse had a recurrence of her shingles a month or so after my vaccination, at the time I was having a problem with a rash on my forehead. To make a long story short while she was getting check out at the doctors, I was coming down with a shingle infection of my own. I think I may have went to Emerge where they diagnosed it and immediately put me on anti-viral medication to hopeful prevent it from affecting my eye, it took a bit of time but it got cleared up, without reaching my eye . All in a lifetime they say.

My wife had shingles two years ago, and I've never felt so useless. It covered her whole one side of her face, and down her neck. Extremely painful, but luckily for her, it left no scarring at all.
    This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......
