There are still many high school students collecting (CERB or whatever it is called now) and I hear them say, why should I go to work (part-time) when I can make more money staying home.... That is what I hear anyway....

I highly doubt it, not until the country is completely broke will the voice of reason be heard again. With so many on the government dole they will keep turdeau in power to keep the taps open and the free cash flowing. For any able bodied person that is capable of working the government should form a work detail as the US did during the great depression (ccc) and put these people to work to see some good come of the tax payers dollars being spent. A program such as that though will never come to fruition as that wouldn't get silly socks elected again as so many are now accustomed to receiving free money for doing nothing and now expect it thinking they deserve it and it is their right. Poor Canada.

Makes me wonder if I should even bother working maybe join the crowd and take the free money and retire.
I am just finishing up a contract on Wednesday and starting a new permanent job as a System Analyst. But really all I am doing is working so that I can retire in 3 - 5 years. Actually if the government gave me 2000.00 bucks a month for life I could actually quit my job. I would take my savings and pay off the house and with 2 grand a month I would only need to work 1 - 2 weeks a month doing cash. I could retire sooner.
WTF am I even bothering to work anymore.

One chap I know has a sister in her mid 30's 7 kids by 5 different men for those 7 kids all said and in she receives just over $5000 a month plus whatever the government is paying her live in boy friend I would say that is is pretty good pay day for doing nothing all her life other than having a little fun. How many others are there out there like that a lot I'm sure. I imagine for a lot why work when they can get knocked up and paid for it.

Great idea, and put chains on them to so we can keep track of them all. Probably best to house them and their families together. And for their safety better put them behind some big high chain linked fences.
Sounds like Canadians will get their chance this fall to make their voice heard on what kind of Canada they want.

I can remember back in the sixties, I was a young teenager working at the gas station in our small town. Every morning there were two or three government trucks stopped to fill up with gas and pick up three or four guys that came in one car or walked to the station. I asked one of them about it and he said "we're on welfare and we go with these guys and cut dead trees in the ditches to keep them from falling on the roads. If we miss so many days we don't get our welfare"
This went on for most of that winter. Worked for the station owner, one car parked and the gov't bought gas several times a week, left their chain saws for sharpening on the weekend, and the guys bought coffee and smokes.

I remember a program in the 80's near Barrie Ont. Workers on Welfare we're bussed out to the Military Base Borden to do landscape maintenance. Some were doing cleaning of the ditches along the highways. It didn't last long, the Unions fought with the government that they were taking work away from Unionised members.
This poorly run CERB program gave out $81.6 Billion of our taxes with little to no oversight. Hundreds of stories of misuse. Local story I have first hand knowledge of was a family of 4 including 2 teens living at home with after school part time jobs...they all drew CERB...$8K a month going into a single-family home. Emergency Benefits ??
It's obvious there are jobs out there, hopefully the Government cracks down on these folks that are more than happy to sit at home as long as the money is flowing.
