Actually they don't trust you at all .... seems they edited down some of the rhetoric, if I find time I copied the text into an old post and will find it, but it still is the same, total lies!!!... liberal "truth" according to the LIEberals... (total lies)

"“The Liberal Party of Canada feels strongly that Bill C-42, currently before Parliament, contains aspects that will put Canadians’ safety at risk.

“First, it eliminates the need for owners of prohibited and restricted firearms to have a transportation license to carry those guns in their vehicles. This means they could freely transport handguns or automatic weapons anywhere within their province, whether to a grocery store or a soccer field."

According to them you can currently take your automatic weapon to the grocery store!

This will make the gang bangers think twice about driving around with handguns and shooting things up. I feel so much safer already, thanks Justin. Guess things were getting a little slow around the firearms center.

So if I am headed to the range I am less likely to rob a store. Someone should ask Trudeau if gang bangers will need a permit to transport their firearms

"This is about unenforceable registration of weapons that violates the rights of people to own firearms."—Premier Ralph Klein (Alberta)Calgary Herald, 1998 October 9 (November 1, 1942 – March 29, 2013) OFAH Member

It does stop most of the gun show buys as it will take weeks to be able to get everything done, but I guess the transfer took weeks anyway before.

I see it the same way, just made it more complicated but changes nothing for safety of the public, obviously.

I still say if they want to reduce hand gun problems, use the simple solution.
Stop the practice of plea bargaining and probation when caught. If violators were to serve a full 10 years rather than serving 3 days plus 5 -10 year probation, then lessons will be better learnt.
Not sure ... criminals perform criminal acts only because they convince themselves they won't get caught.
Same reason people that live in states that have the death sentence still commit those crimes ... they don't think about the punishment, because they don't think they will be caught.

I'm all for tighter penalties ... but I think we have to recognize, criminals don't care about laws.

Yep......you need to contact the CFO for an ATT anywhere other than your house to the gun range. Including gun store, buyer/seller, and gunsmith.

I agree that longer mandatory sentences will not stop criminals from comiting crime. What it will do though is stop them from re offending as they will be locked up.

The mail notice I received specifies transport to and from all shooting clubs and ranges approved under section 29 of the Firearms Act and transport of a newly acquired restricted and/or prohibited firearms from the place of acquisition to the license dwellers house or other place authorized by the chief firearms officer. So buyers can take their restricted/prohibited home without needing a specific ATT.

Having listened to 17 minutes of Runkle's droning he clearly doesn't understand how the system works or doesn't own a restricted and/or prohibited handgun.

He says he wants a piece of paper proving the conditions. If he owned restricted firearms and/or prohibited handguns he would have the former conditions on paper. He can expect to receive a replacement piece of paper with the new conditions shortly if he doesn't already have it.

His conclusion that you need to buy a new restricted to bring the conditions into force is complete nonsense.
