Nuisance trapping in different MNR districts

Been asked to do some nuisance beaver trapping in a WMU within the MNR Aurora office district.
My trapping license is for Bancroft district only, where my trap line is.
Nuisance trapping laws are very vague and hard to find online, which is good and bad.
Need to be by the book on this contracted work.

Is it on private property.? Then can't you just get listed as an 'agent' of the landowner ?

Contact the district's fur tech to confirm the process but if this is private land in another zone then you would get the landowner agreement signed and fill out the trapper license form and send everything to them. Once approved, you'll either get the paperwork back or they'll forward it to OFMF to process the additional license. You'll have to pay the fee of 39.55

This would be a possibility if he only plans to use a firearm. If he wants to use traps he'll have to get a valid license for that area.

If you're being paid to do the removal...and used a firearm, can you still keep the pelt ?

Yes you can keep the pelt of a furbearer that you killed protecting property but you must get a notice of possession. The same applies to a trapper that kills out of season. I had to get a notice of possession for a few beavers I caught prior to open season helping a farmer out. They were nice and big so I decided to keep the pelts to sell them.

A different story if it's just regular trapping. You'd need to purchase a second licence if this was the case. I held two licences for many years.

That was my understanding when I trapped in the Durham region, and was referred to do some nuisance trapping outside my zone...

I stand corrected. Thanks for the info. I always thought we were limited to our zone, even for nuisance.

It would be contracted nuisance trapping on private property. The landowner permission form will be given.

Will stop in at a MNR District office to ask if a secondary license is needed for the secondary district trapping, or if I can do nuisance trapping throughout Ontario even though my license states Bancroft District only.
I do know any beaver caught doing nuisance trapping cannot be used towards my quota. Hope they don't accidently get mixed into my count (wink, wink).
I suspect a secondary license will be required, will specifically ask that it not have a quota associated with it.
Will even need to complete a work safety risk assessment form for the client before proceeding on this commercial land.
No firearm's required.
