The science hasn’t changed, the premiers are worried about their careers and taking appropriate measures to solidify support. Just look at Ford today. Apparently he was against mandates the whole time. But just yesterday he said he would hold off on getting rid of the mask mandate. He’s trying to play both sides.

The protesters are going to find another way to protest.
    They can’t be stopped.

The protesters have only been there a few weeks but this business made 3 months rent from the supporters supporting an open coffee shop.

At least some are willing to stay open and the ones that did ,did well. Good on them for staying open. Viva Frei also showed a clip of a strip of food joints with line ups doing well .

If they didn't close down the money millions would be spent locally in and around Ottawa area.

No political movements can be stopped with enough support but is this the type of future we want, one party does not get their way in an election and decides to take to the streets, block highways, disrupt trade. Recipe for anarchy.

    Out of curiosity,
Did you expect anything else or less support anti mandates movement after government attempts to starve 10% of the population who decided not to vaxx?

All trudeau had to do was say " I will review the mandates".. he could have easily lied(like he has done numerous times before) and throw this mandates review at some "commission" to bury it - similar to how our election system got "reviewed" in the past..

At this point, protestors would have no claim at all - period... Everyone leaves Ottawa satisfied, the supporters at home see the light in end of tunnel.

But no, our fratboy pm decided to double down on his " values".. that recipe for anarchy in my books - when resentment on both sides of argument grows stronger and stronger until all sh.. hits the fan and you have a civil war on your hands.

I doubt it would have helped. I believe they didn’t just want mandates dropped, they also wanted Trudeau gone.

Reply. Well clearly there was much support against the mandates even in my own family circle but most of these were imposed by Provincial Governments, six Provinces being run by Conservatives.

So why were the so called protesters not in all those Provinces.

They went specifically to attack Trudeau and the Liberal Government and hoped for an over reaction which did not come.

All trudeau had to do was say " I will review the mandates".. he could have easily lied(like he has done numerous times before) and throw this mandates review at some "commission" to bury it - similar to how our election system got "reviewed" in the past..

Reply. Trudeau was not going to address a rabble who had no leadership and dozens of unrelated grievances he could not address.

At this point, protestors would have no claim at all - period... Everyone leaves Ottawa satisfied, the supporters at home see the light in end of tunnel.

Reply. There was a hard core element here and at similar occupations that were hell bent on conflict, road closures and closure of the economy, nothing would have deterred them period.

But no, our fratboy pm decided to double down on his " values".. that recipe for anarchy in my books - when resentment on both sides of argument grows stronger and stronger until all sh.. hits the fan and you have a civil war on your hands.

Reply. Well the name calling always comes from the right after they have lost successive elections and the insurrections come from the right and now we have full blown political support for this type of nonsense from the right.

If there was to be a civil war it would be started from the right the evidence of that is before your eyes.

Yeh I think the evidence of that is painted all over their trucks and banners. But as in the USA the government elected by the people must prevail.

Now of course they will all cry about having more popular support and the system does not work for them.

Well it worked plenty good when they won the past elections and they even competed again 6 months ago in the same system because they thought they would win.

So my suggestion is that they suck it up, get on with trying to find a leader and work on electoral reform BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTION.

But even then their calculations will be way off, because Canada is left leaning today and that reality will be reflected in joint Liberal/NDP opposition after any election reforms in any case.
