You gotta give the protesters a pat on the back. The actual free loving peaceful ones are having a dance party right now. Under the emergencies act they shouldn’t be there, but at least they’re civil and upbeat. And hats off to the police for being so lenient and understanding. There has yet to be any heavy-handedness that wasn't warranted. Canada is truly the best country in the world.

Well I am not giving them any pat's on the backs. They have caused untold damage to the economy both locally and at border towns, they have taken police officers out of their own cities to come here and guard them from counter demonstrators, some officers from as far away as Calgary. The policing costs are about 2.5 million a day.

They also might be facing future penalties by way of civil tort as many have been identified.

But I do agree the police have handled the illegal occupation well, have been very patient.

Unfortunately because this debacle has been seen Worldwide Canada will probably be off the places to see list for a lot of tourists so the fall out of this will be felt for many years. We better hope the Americans do not decided to repatriate all the auto sector jobs because of this. If folks were complaining about jobs before this, well who do they blame now.

The highlight of the weekend was convoy organizers crying and moaning about "police brutality." Second place was Pat King who bellowed on about a "record as long as my arm" and predicted people would "run" when they faced him begging to call his lawyer when he was arrested. I think Pat played a blinder on these folks, got to play on videos pumping himself up as a larger than life guy, all the while living it up with free food and accommodation and getting money put in his piggy bank. What self confessed criminal would not love this and as you have said and from my experience when arrested they either want to call their lawyer (normally legal aid) or they want to call their Mommy.

My take away from all this nonsense is that the right can organize and erect bouncy castles and hot tub's but and have shown the whole country they can do this, while causing untold damage to Canada. But can they form a political party with an articulated platform with a credible leader, not so much.
