As we’ve seen, no one is interested in backing Ukraine with troops. The world is watching closely. Suppose China feels bold enough to take Taiwan, does this ignite a global conflict? Surely Putin and Jinping are in close contact.

I doubt Putin would try a NATO member. So I guess he’s picking through former Soviet satellite states.

I believe what Bushwacker meant to say is that he is one of the rare Presidents who did not start any invasions into far flung toyboxes, and did pull some troops home without leaving billions of dollars of military equipment for the other side to use.

I'm pretty sure Germany's lack of participation in the conflict has something to do with a treaty signed when the Berlin wall came down. Part of the reason Russia is in Ukraine has to do with another treaty regarding NATO and a build of arms (missiles) near the Russian boarder that have been occurring for the last seven years but was paused at some time during Trump.

It won't become a world problem unless the world makes it a problem. Putin is going in liberating two mainly Russian provinces ( from the Soviet era) by denazification, dismantling military airports and 15 American funded Biolabs before he pulling out unless provoked into further actions.

It would appear that the Russian strategy is :
Take more lands then DNR and LNR, then negotiate independence (and eventual join to Russia) for those 2 by giving up spare lands back to Ukraine
