Pretty sure we can get an idea of body counts well before a war ends, the end of a war would be the wrong time as many murders would have been covered up already. As for propaganda pretty sure that Russian soldiers did not make it out of burned out tanks without a few problems
or in downed planes or helicopters. There are reporters on the ground, maybe not from Rebel news however. LOL

If you tune into CNN they have actual reporters in country reporting minute by minute. You will need to stop watching Rebel News.
