I will not be out on the opener, waiting for my son, a buddy and his son to arrive on the 29th. We will, however, all be out the 30th, whatever the weather. Last year I hunted the opener alone, and heard 6 shots before I got my opening day tom. The next day a buddy and I doubled, so I was tagged out by 6:30 am day 2. I regretted the quick end of my own season, but I was able to hunt (call for) others, so it was still a great year.

No opener for me, travelling Thursday, hunting Fri, Sat and Sun.
Travel back on Monday.
Good luck every one.

I have always made it a personal tradition to get out on opening morning … love hearing the first gobbles opening morning!!
However, doesn’t look like I will make this year’s opener - just tested positive for Covid yesterday. 😩
Mild symptoms so far, but at age 74, who knows what will come.
Hoping its just a mild case and I can get out in 10 days or so.
Good luck to all those getting out on the 25th!

Maybe go out first day or 2 just to run the birds off the property my brother hunts before he gets back from the west coast. He seems to enjoy doing it to the wildlife in my hunting spots.

I'm starting to have second thoughts on going out for the opener. I put my blind out yesterday, figuring on a place to sit in the rain, but now the wind is going to be high and straight into my face. On the bright side, there were 2 jakes in front of where I put up my blind and where I put my other camera there was another bird way off along the bush.

Haha, now that’s funny.
I hope you work it out with your brother so you can have successful hunts together instead. Good luck

@cantgetright i have a brother, same way. When we used to duck hunt me and a buddy used to nickname him “greenpeace” because when he was there all the ducks were safe. Couldn’t hit a barnwall from the inside.
