Beauty! Looks good to me. Thinking i should trade you some salmon fishing for a bear hunt.

You can cut the 4 mains short to desired lenght, then splint them:
A; with sufficient length of 2 strong flatbar aluminum pieces bolted together with the main beams -or better jet, tight fit aluminum pipe or square tube slid onto the cut (bolting it to the upper and lower cut main also).
2; slide a matching size(tight fit) pre treated hardwood "rod'"(or if available to manufacture to size-aluminum rod)inside the cut tubes, then bolt them with stainless bolts.
Key is-tight fit and sufficient length.
Both would make You cut the mains, thus both would have a slight chance of aesthetical issues.
Both can be overcome by good workmanship and perhaps-if so desired-a "designer"splint and /or a cover ring of sort.Machine shops can do miracle to make them look and fit aestehtically.
Some nice decal can be used too,to cover the cut.
I did something (lesser degree )to my cot's aluminum main bed frame(which was to be thrown out 15 years ago, after my daighters friend broke the frame )and it still works like a charm.
Good luck.
Let us know.

Sounds good to me but not necessary. I have the summer off so, anytime in July/August you want to head down this way (Hamilton area) just let me know and we will make something work. Weekdays are better than weekends but I can make either work.

It currently sits about 6ft 8 inches from the deck floor, plenty tall for this 5'8" individual.... If I can get it to about 6ft tall, I would be happier

I'd take it to someone who makes boat tops and tell them what you want. They have the tools to cut the tube and reattach end fittings. Should be a quick job for someone like that.

That sounds like a good idea, I will do that when the chance arrives, in the meantime I will just use as is
