I know when I took to lurking it was more from other members harassment than any admin/mod actions.

What can I but enumerate old themes?
It's this divisiveness that's problematic, right versus left; no one is any one thing.
I tire of members who have been on here forever, who were originally banned from the Off Topic section for repeated disrupting behaviour, harping about being ill treated when we're repeatedly reviewing Reported Posts complaining about their "on the line" behaviour. I'm also tired of the pithy, follow-up "why" emails, and subsequent petty follow-up behaviour. Let's be adults and problem solve like adults.
If there's a complaint that the MODS are too left-leaning, why do right-leaning MODS never volunteer?
If there's a complaint that there aren't enough hunting/fishing posts, then [I]start posting them.[I] I reiterate to anyone who's tired of the Off Topic section, we can amend your account so you don't see it.
If there's a complaint about a particular member, there's an Ignore function that will take care of that problem for you.
There are multiple short-term fixes for some of the issues discussed in this thread.
As for the longer ones, may I suggest if we spent more time outside enjoying ourselves and bringing those experiences onto the Forum to be shared, and less time sitting like spuds in front of screens, complaining and feeling entitled, the Forum would be an all-round better place.
So.... no guidelines, just subjective opinion is OK, and no respect for the objective facts or for that matter, no respect for my point of view (or those that agreed) so in the end the reality that is in conflict with the untruths in that thread (and others) and the science and ethics I posted are controversial compare to the ... emotion based fiction.
“Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.” Winston Churchill
Seems the forum not helping and perhaps is getting more unhealthy in nature.
Why, for myself I come on during breaks or lag time when I am actually working and or doing much important things, being an admin is a waste of time and more a frustration since if you believe in all free speech even the bs gets to stay and debate encouraged so the opposite of the actions that seem to occur on occasion.
"The most offensive is not their lying—one can always forgive lying—lying is a delightful thing, for it leads to truth—what is offensive is that they lie and worship their own lying…" Fyodor Dostoyevsky
That and educating the left is an amusement since it is usual futile and draws nothing but their anger at questioning them, makes them double down and makes them run faster... making many essentially either ignorant of the implications and scope, delusional, hate filled, misguided and not understanding the implications or like Goebbels and Al Capone's men, deliberate accomplices... but in the end, still accomplices to some degree. Some can be made to think and look at themselves but you see the same moral and mental base when you read about 1930's Germany, in Solzhenitsyn's books, in Browning's Ordinary Men, etc. people dedicated and drawn to big power, unquestioning loyalty, willingness to ignore moral and empathy based examination and contempt for debate or discussion that disagrees with them or isn't approved by their masters.

To paraphrase Malcolm Muggridge the concept of an open mind is the same as an open mouth to close on something good, but for many the implications it would have on morals and their view so scary that it is clear that horse won't drink. To sum it the cat patting me on the arm for attention ranks several steps above the desire to try and baby sit a free for all where if I deleted outright fiction I would probably have endless issues.

Haha "when I took to lurking..."
It's 2:24 pm on a Friday; I anticipate people are enjoying the weather. I would sooner see the Forum with more modest numbers and a higher quality of posts than have a bunch of bullies in a circle shoving each other and perpetuating violence and dissension in the Off Topic section.

enough time wasted. This is why at times I hate being a mod. Having to read the ramblings of someone so self rightous not remotly related to outdoors for which I'm a member of the forum for.
Think I'm going to ask for a rule change
rule 24
A surcharge of X will be added to posts of a repetitive nature or excessively redundant posts.
Great way to monetize this site and maybe cut down on the ramblings

Well, from the amount you post and revise.....perhaps the "much important things" should get a priority since this clearly is below your lot in life.
Might surprise you what some of us do for a living......falling under the "much more important things".....
You play the victim well when it suits you.....carry on.

Calling a poster “self righteous” appears to be a personal attack. Perhaps some review of the rules is in order.

Talk about heavy handed moding....Sure go ahead and report the post.
It'll be reviewed by 3 mods and 2 admins.
Case prtesented the truth is the best defense and as this poster claims his truth is above and beyond the truth followed by others self rightous is an appropriate adjective.
forgot to add the definition

Sure reads as morally superior to me
