The first gun I trained on and a bunch of my brothers was a CIL 12 ga. Full choke 30 inch barrel over 50 years ago, my Dad figured two important things as to why that gun , safety and shot placement ! With only one shot you learned how to kill , also with only one shot you couldn't get trigger happy as you had to wait for the old man to hand you another shell. Oh sure in time we got pretty good at quick reloads but "one shot, one kill" was ingrained in us. I have an old Cooey .22 LR single shot that my grandkids can learn on.
Good Luck & Good Hunting !

Not going to happen. After insulting one of the mods we discovered he had multiple accounts here, so booted them all.

It’s not too often that we get a discussion going about single shots. I own a 1973 Browning B78 in 30.06. It’s topped off with Leupold 2.5X10X50 scope. It’s a tack -driver but it’s not a rifle for everyone. It’s tricky to dismantle and put back together, and it has a half-caulk setting on the hammer instead of a safety. It’s also heavy. Despite its flaws, I really like hunting and shooting with it.

Here’s a moose that I shot with it 10 years ago,

Very nice Moose, congrats. Did you need a kill shot or did one do it?

Can confirm the difficulty in disassembling a B78. The Ruger #1 isn't that easy either.

I figured as much. When a new poster starts asking questions about forum shortcomings (according to him/her),asks questions about who owns what etc. ,but, won't answer simple questions in return,my troll stench meter goes off the charts. Good job,TS.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Two shots. The first was into the boiler room, and the second was behind the ribs and out through the brisket.

I’ve gone so far as removing the hammer and falling block but left the trigger mechanism intact (too many parts to tinker with). The hard part on reassembly was installing the 2 main springs… very awkward!

That's as far as I went too. Anything further and I'd have needed a gunsmith to get it back together. LOL.
